We were a party of 3 and came in as without a reservation. The hostess was very friendly, and despite being full found us a table pretty quickly. We shared the peach salad (Ok, not great) and the appetizer special (really good). Pear martini and 2 glasses of wine all very good. Duck, lobster wih gnocchi and sushi grade tuna... More

Compared to the trendier, better known Portland restaurants this was an oasis of quiet with inventive and well-prepared food. Friendly and efficient service.

My mother in law loves this restaurant so we go every year on our trip to Portland. I have been a non lover since they moved locations, so for a couple years now. This year I think I had the best meal on the table. Everyone was disappointed so I think this will be the last year we come here.... More

Let me start by saying every piece of fish in Portland is fresh and if isn't something is terribly wrong. What makes Walter's stand out is the unique preparation, a fusion of different and unexpected tastes. My appetizer of fried green tomato topped with crab speaks for itself, a delicious peach salad followed by one of the best salmon entrees... More

Great-great restaurant. Walters owner is the chef I believe and he truly knows what he is doing. The food has always been great as well as service, drinks, atmosphere, and the staff is extremely attentive to your needs. Parking is in the rear which makes it really nice.

My wife and I hosted a couple coming in from Colorado and settled on Walter's for our meal. We were SO glad we did. The experience was very relaxed and comfortable. We started in the bar where we had very good drinks (see Pomegranate drink and German pilsner). The space was comfortable and not too crowded so we could relax... More

Took a colleague to lunch and was truly disappointed. The lobster salad was boring - 6 pieces of lobster laid around greens with a very tasetless lemon dressing. My colleague got the BLT and didn't even finish it. Very cold, atmosphere found in arestaurants in hotels.. Service was Ok but not very personal or special. For the money, this is... More

this is the first time I have felt compelled to submit a review a restaurant. I frequently travel solo, so I look for a place with an inviting bar, Walters fit the bill and I am happy to report that the service and food were also excellent. My bartender, Guy, kindly recommended the duck, and it was phenomenal! Possibly the... More

We has a group of 5 of us eat at Walter's and everyone truly enjoyed our meal. We shared the Calamari which was fantastic. We had everything from beef to seafood and all of it was truly fantastic. We all said we would eat there again if we had a chance.

We had lunch at Walter's yesterday. This time there were three women, who wanted to catch up on each other's lives. We sat in the super-comfortable chairs at tables on the bar side of the restaurant, had a perfectly marvelous lunch (with a couple of glasses of wine) and talked until we felt guilty about keeping the waitress so late....
