Simply one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had in over 37 years of dining around the world. The space itself, special and so comfortable, the ambiance not contrived in anyway. Did I mention the menu was beautifully presented, the wine list astounding and the taste of every course an explosion of dazzling taste? As if all the... More

I had the 5 course tasting menu. The food was exquisite, and our server was attentive and knowledgable. Reservations are necessary at least 3 days in advance. Proper attire it's required.great wine and beer list as well.

Like to give a shout-out to our waiter Doug, who helped make our night truly enjoyable. His service was above the norm, informative and fun. A terrific menu with a "chef's whim" vegetarian dish made nightly.

Arrived at noon. The restaurant is nearly empty and yet we waited 45 minutes plus to get our food. Service is aloof and non attentive. Really surprising and disappointing.

My husband and I had dinner here based on reading other tripadvisor reviews. The atmosphere is not stuff like some other restaurants and the staff is super friendly and personable. We ordered the mussels for and app and they were hands down the largest, freshest and most delicious we have had. I had the scallops with pepper crust and my... More

Definitely a place to revisit. We are from NYC and we love to go out and explore new restaurants. This restaurant ranks on the top of my list. Nice ambience, nothing pretentious but the food is superb. The ingredients, the preparation and the presentation is without a doubt fine dining quality.

My company had dinner program here last night and it was flawless. The servers were so attentive, even to my clients severe food allergies. They were accommodating, professional, knowledgeable. The scallops were one of the best. They were pepper crusted with a fennel/potato mash. You can tell the chefs here know what the deal is. We made sure to thank... More

My husband and I were so looking forward to our meal as Five Fifty Five came highly recommended. We are self proclaimed foodies and this restaurant peeked our interest. The atmosphere was nice. We sat upstairs on the second level and had a wonderful view of the open Kitchen below. Unfortunately, the two restrooms are directly across a very crowded... More

This dinner was a real treat. I was not expecting a gourmet vegetarian entree complete with house-made tofu! It was flavorful and seasonal. Service was excellent. Great wine list. My husband thought it was the best restaurant we visited in Portland.

In Portland, Me? Yes. Honest. Fantastic food. Inventive, smart, delicious, well thought out, perfectly timed, this was without doubt top 10 meals - and I've eaten a whole lot of restaurant meals. I'd come back again 10 times. My only complaint was the noise level. It was a Saturday night so the place was packed - as it should have... More
