The food might be great, but the customer service isn't. We received a gift certificate from our nephew last Christmas for 555. We made a reservation but unfortunately, we misplaced the gift certificate and as hard as we looked, we couldn't find it. I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager who wasn't the least bit helpful. We asked... More

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Portland. The food is excellent and always has interesting vegetarian options for the veggie members of our family. They also offer a brilliant tasting menu. The atmosphere is nice, kind of "pub-ish" and not too noisy (a pet peeve of mine). The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the open kitchen... This was one of the few restaurants that offered a great menu during this past restaurant week. We had not eaten here in years so decided to go. What a treat. We had the 5 course tasting menu which was delicious. The service was very good. We won't wait so long to come back again.

It's been well recognized that Portland has moved beyond an emerging restaurant scene to a well establish restaurant scene. Five Fifty Five is case in point. This is a really good restaurant with an innovative menu that captures New England (and Maine in particular) traits and ingredients with global culinary trends (like combining unexpected ingredients and tastes). My parents and... More

My husband and I made reservations for our anniversary about a week prior to dinning. This is a well known local restaurant so reservations are a must. We ordered the 5 course Chef's tasting menu, which is also highly recommend. Each course is the perfect serving. The food is very fresh, extremely flavorful, delicately prepared, and cooked exactly to how... More

We had a group of 6 for my mothers birthday celebration. Several of us went with the 5 course menu. It was great. The flavors were very good and the timing of the courses was perfect. If you go this route it is a long dinner with lots of time for conversation, exactly what we were looking for. I look... More

555 restaurant is a lovely spot for a romantic dinner or business function with fantastic food, a wonderful wine selection, and delicious desserts to boot. The staff are all attentive, the bartenders poor a good drink, and the chefs are amazing. Looking for a place to sit at a bar and while away the time while sipping martinis? Or perhaps... More

We stopped in for dessert and coffee on a snowy Saturday night. We were seated right away at a table in the bar area. The atmosphere is very nice with a modern flair. We had the steamed lemon pudding which was served with pot de creme with plump cherries and biscotti. It was excellent! We also tried the chocolate -... More
