Steve began his culinary career as a brew master at several breweries in Northern California. In 1999, he attended the New England Culinary Institute in Burlington Vermont. After graduating in 2001, he returned to California to work at Domaine Chandon in Napa Valley. A graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, Michelle Corry has worked at numerous prestigious establishments, including the French Laundry in Napa. Coming from LA, I'm used to a tasting menu where it's set (maybe choice of 2 entrees) and the whole table has to order it. This restaurant has 5 categories on its menu (To Begin, Cheese, Small Plate, Savory, Sweet) and you get to create your own tasting! It's an amazing deal. $65 for all 5 courses, where my 2... More

And the tasting menu was all spot on delicious. I am a chef and the meal was delicious!! You have got to try the mussels, best i have had! Everything was perfect,... More

I've eaten at nice restaurants all over the world for pleasure and for business. This 3-hour, chef's tasting menu meal was the best my partner and I have ever had. From the scallop ceviche to the perfectly cooked and presented sirloin, this meal did not disappoint in presentation, flavor, or variety. The 5 courses included black or white truffles at... More

Fine dining white table cloth restaurant. My aunt took me to this restaurant and what a KILLER meal!! She had been before, which was a good thing, b/c she knew where to sit and what to order. Our table was upstairs over looking the kitchen, which was great for me, b/c I love to watch people in their element. We... More

The great reviews made Five Fifty-Five our first destination upon arrival in Portland. Brunch was fantastic. We enjoyed a cheese plate (accompanying crostini, compote, nut brittle and wildflower honey made it an experience) and traitor's eggs (the lobster making it a perfect welcome-to-Maine). We finished with cranberry orange scones and honey butter. The wine selection is fantastic with interesting by-the-glass... More

Yeah, I know that is a big claim. Portland has so many restaurants and is supposedly ideal for foodies, however there are not too many that are consistently as good as 555. I have need there multiple times and been more than impressed every time. Food quality is unbelievable and full of exquisite offerings. The scallops are to die for,... More

I was so pleased with our recent visit to 555 on Thanksgiving day. They were gracious and very attentive to our needs as we were traveling with an older family member. I adored how they make a conscious effort to serve everyone at our table at the same time, class act! All our meals were perfectly cooked and enjoyed. Wine... More

Reservations for 6:00PM, a cold Saturday night during the Thanksgiving weekend. Very excited to be dining at one of the premier restaurants in the hot foodie town of Portland Maine. My expectations started to slip a bit as our meal wasn't in front of us by 6:30, nor 7:00, not until 7:30 did our dinner arrive. Sitting in a crowded... More

The scallops here were honestly the best thing I have ever eaten in my life. The chef at 555 is a masterful artist with a pallet so rich and complex that I felt like I was visiting a grand gallery of flavors throughout my meal. We ordered the 5 plate tasting menu to be able to experience as much of... More

While visiting our daughter in college up in Maine, we decided to drive another hour to visit Portland and specifically to eat at 555. We had heard about this restaurant from friends who had happened upon it while traveling in Maine over the summer. While we didn't go for the tasting menu, as had been advised, we all had fabulous...
