Portland Maine has quite a few Mexican restaurants though none are really very authentic. Our favorite is Tortilla Flat. It does not really compare with the places we go to when we are in Southern California (our home away from home) but given the dearth of Mexicans and Mexican Americans in Maine, it isn't a fair comparison. Tortilla Flat has... More

We used to like to go to Tortilla Flat. The food and service was good. We went tonight, the first time in about a year, and had a bad experience. It started with tortilla chips that had an unusual taste. We sent them back, and the next set had the same taste: I would describe it as stale chips that... More

Been eating at Tortilla Flats in Portland for over 10 years and order their guacamole every time - plus take one to go - it's fresh, zingy and delicious.

Have you ever taste real Mexican Food? Look no further than Tortilla Flats. I been there all of my life almost 23 years. Complimentary chips, Greet Fita's (Nice and Fresh), Banana Changa must have dessert. Loaded Nachos yummmmmmm. I sorry for the "American versions" but you can't beat this. And yes good customer service.

I have literally not been to Tortilla Flat in about 8 years, so when I went last week I was not sure what condition I would find this restaurtant since it has been around for a "very" long time. We went for lunch, and I was pleasantly surprised at the lunch menu and when I received my food, it was... More

Tortilla Flat is right around the corner from my Mom's, so we've been there a bunch. We've always had good experiences with the staff, and the food's always been pretty good. If you're looking for super authentic Mexican, go elsewhere... but if you're okay with some Americanized Mexican food, this is alright. I can't attest to the drinks.

We like the food here, the atmosphere is good and relaxed. The wait staff is always very good. The gauc is very very good. This place sometime feels a bit past its prime but we have enjoyed it for over 25 years and I will be going back

I've eaten here for many years, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal. I like trying something new every time, and the specials are always worth checking out. The free salsa and warm freshly made tortilla chips start your meal. I usually get the Fiesta Grande Platter for an appetizer; it's a good sampling of many... More

First time here though my daughter is a regular. Food was authentic. Homemade complimentary chips and salsa to start. My husband loved the salsa....not overly chunky with just the right amount of heat to it. I loved the chips served warm. We all had something different. Hubby tried the special: pork fajitas. Nice seasoning but pork was slightly chewy; not... More
