It has been a few years since I have visited. I always ordered the chili relenos which I did tonight. They were not what I had expected but still okay. The recipe has changed. The service was good and my eating partner had the small flauta plate which was good.

We love going to Tortilla Flats. On a nice day there is a large screened in deck to enjoy, our favorite place to sit. The menu includes quite a few appetizers, including excellent nachos and a layered dip we love. Portions are very generous, we always need boxes to take home leftovers. We also tried fried avocados with a creamy... More

So I'm still sitting here at the table, so very disappointed in this whole ordeal. Our server left and after a long wait some other person came and took our order, our water cups empty and as we sit here with finished food, our water glasses are still empty. The poor people across from us sat there for 15 minutes... More

Wow. Visited on a Friday night with friends recently. Unfortunately - the best part of the visit was the music playing too loudly in the bar area. Entrees were cold - and the quality of the food was simply awful. Nachos were stone cold - loaded with scallions and onions - chips were stale - and the Margaritas here are... More

Sat at the bar on 01/09/15 . The food was terrible and food was very undercooked. When pointed out they offered to do nothing about it , not even an excuse. The bartender was so inattentive she would have missed an elephant on the bar. Save your money and go elsewhere

In a city that is lacking in good, authentic Mexican food, Tortilla Flat is a decent option. I would particularly recommend the enchiladas and fajitas and the chicken mole.

I have frequented this establishment over the last 30 year and found it to have the best margaritas anywhere. They offer the standard version with the cloudy mix, but also offer the Classic Margarita made with real Jamaican Lime Juice and Triple Sec, producing a clear, clean cocktail that you will have you calling the waiter to bring you another... A friend and I came here for dinner during her recent visit. I had been several times before, though it has been about two years. I especially wanted to sit on the enclosed deck on this beautiful summer night, which I've enjoyed in the past. We arrived to the hostess station, waiting to be seated, and were told by each... Portland Maine has quite a few Mexican restaurants though none are really very authentic. Our favorite is Tortilla Flat. It does not really compare with the places we go to when we are in Southern California (our home away from home) but given the dearth of Mexicans and Mexican Americans in Maine, it isn't a fair comparison. Tortilla Flat has... More

We used to like to go to Tortilla Flat. The food and service was good. We went tonight, the first time in about a year, and had a bad experience. It started with tortilla chips that had an unusual taste. We sent them back, and the next set had the same taste: I would describe it as stale chips that... More
