I could go on with a long description of Yosaku.. but it is quite simply fantastic. Great food.. clean, comphy friendly. The menue has a vast variety of items.. and I hope over time to try them all.... if I can ever get away from my favorites! Try the HamachiKama..you will be addicted!

Our extended family (including 3 9-year olds and an 11-year old), went to this restaurant on New Year's Eve. Service was great-we all ordered our own dinners, but had several appetizers famly-style. The food was good- huge variety of sushi, and the main dishes included teriakis and tempuras.

Not only was this the best meal that I had all vacation, it was the best sushi I've ever had period! The atmosphere was great, the staff was friendly and joked with us and handled our entire party of 10 with grace and attention to detail!

This is the best Sushi I have had since returning from Hawaii. We loved it. We will return and make this one of our stops in Portland for sure.

Not everyone in our group of six wanted sushi, but for those of us who did, we decided the menu here would give everyone enough choices. We were seated and the Manager/Owner realized we were packed in like sardines, and graciously moved us to another location, where tables were moved together for us. And we had more space to relax... I have been eating at Yosaku for many years on business trips and vacations to Maine. It has never let me down. As other reviewers have mentioned the service can be a bit slow at times, but the food quality absolutely makes up for this. They have a variety of unique fish and try sitting at the sushi bar where... More

The Godzilla Roll was very good. The nigiri zushi was so bad I really should have sent it back. I got sake, toro, striped bass, and red snapper. With each of the four, it was instantly clear from the flavor that the fish was not fresh enough to be served as sushi. I don't think I've ever had worse sushi... More

We stopped here because we saw it was very crowded and lively. Did not have a reservation and could not get a table but did sit at the sushi bar and thoroughly enjoyed the chefs making sushi and rolls. Our food was delicious and very fresh. The restaurant is very clean with an open kitchen and modern décor. This is... More

We found this little gem in Portland on first Friday - it was extremely busy but we managed to get a table. This being our first Japanese meal we didn't have a clue what to order but our waitress was very patient and helped us to choose. We can't remember what the names of the dishes that we had were,... Wonderful entertainment at the sushi bar. The staff is very friendly when asked questions about various sushi selections. The owner Tuck (not sure on spelling) is a gentleman. He is usually cutting up fish or rolling sushi . I usually have the miso soup, hamachi sashimi, toro sashimi, spicy tuna roll, or a tuna avocado roll with wasabi tobiko on... More
