A great sushi place

Yosaku is a hidden gem in Portland's Old Port district. My two favorite types of sushi there are the spicy scallop and the Marlin sushi. Yosaku is a hidden gem in Portland's Old Port district. My two favorite types of sushi there are the spicy scallop and the Marlin sushi. The poor servers were overworked which made the wait too long. However, the outdoor seating area was very nice.

We spent a good part of the evening trying almost everything they had on the menu. Everything was prepared perfectly and the staff was more than friendly. We travel a lot and have had sushi just about everywhere this was by far the best we have had.

We ate outdoors, a group of nine people. Their private parking lot had just enough space. Their patio is so lovely, and I enjoyed the large tree area as ambiance. The food was excellent, the service seamless, the place was busy but friendly and the overall experience was great. It was my brother's birthday and as a gift they comped... More

Never had a bad meal here. Wonderful appetizers. I love their Ikka Natto, but for most people it is a acquired taste. Try it if you have an adventurous palate. Everyone says, the scallops are amazing. Everyone is right. Grilled octopus chewy, but tender and delicious. Gyoza with paper thin wrappers will have you Jonesing for Yosaku eight days a... More

We've tried other Japanese restaurants, and this is the best one by far, everything we've tried is excellent, my wife loves the spicy scallops. The kids meals are great as well and the man that works there, I don't know if he's the owner is great with the kids making all types of things out of paper or napkins to... More

Skipped the circus theater from the sushi chefs and ordered a noodle soup. Picked the Niku shredded beef with soba noodles. The broth was salty and had a nice soy sauce depth to it. The noodles were big and chewy. The shredded beef is sliced wafer thin and in this heat turns from medium rare to well-well done real quick.... More

Excellent Sushi and Rolls as well as other Japanese food-- reasonably priced -- on the fringes of the main downtown area, but easily walk-able. Outside area for dining in the warmer months. Have been here mostly for lunch - great lunch specials and pricing, but open for dinner as well.

Took some friends out to dinner here....they picked the place, I picked up the tab. They couldn't have picked a better place. best Japanese restaurant outside of NY City I have been to, with terrifically fresh sushi. I ordered a special that came with so much food that I had trouble eating it all....... but it was delicious. Unbelievably, I... More

Hubby and I love sushi - he likes the fish and I like vegetarian. He says it's the best sushi he has ever had and mine, Maine crab and avocado, was mouth watering good! We started with the wide rice noodles and seaweed in broth - normally I don't care for seaweed, but holy oceanography, this was sooooo yummy. Service... More
