Jay & Joseph took excellent care of us. We were on a tight time schedule. Jay arranged for us to eat at the bar. Jay cued the bartenders ahead of our arrival so they were well prepared to serve our drinks and suggest delicious foods that would arrive most rapidly from the kitchen. We had Tuna and Fisherman's stew --... More

You must visit this place whenever you are in Portland Maine! Exceptional service, fresh, fresh seafood ( oysters on the half shell and dinner entrees) and the hostess' homemade apple pie is to die for!! The price is very reasonable as well ( the tab would have been double or triple in Boston!) The downsides: the restaurant is only open... More

Yes, I serious. This is the place. Arrived late at night and only wanted some tastes, so we sat in the bar. We picked some items off the tasting menu. This is 5 star land. Many cities don't have anything of this calibre. If this is #11, I am going to have to have to check out the other 10.... More

First visit to Portland. We did not have a reservation on Saturday night. We walked in and were told to come back in an hour - so we did. Got 2 seats in the lounge area. Large pours of boubon and wine. Nice vibe. The mussels in broth were best we've had -- awesome, we could not stop sopping the... More

We much preferred our meal here to Fore Street. They have delicious food and we really liked the presentation of our meals being served piping hot in these wonderful skillets. Everything we had was great. My only suggestion is to dress in cool clothing as it was quite warm in the dining room. I do not think they have good... More

We were lucky to get 2 seats at the bar last night in this locals favorite near the wharf in Portland, ME. Decor and ambiance all very authentic and comfortable, food beyond expectation to the amazing side. The Sole Francaise was one of the best I have ever had and the presentation picture perfect. That said, from the moment we... More

If you like crowded noisy restaurants, this is the place.good seafood. Never have had anything else there. Great location in quaint Portland. But no water views.and NO NZ Sav Blanc. Only a French one on menu. Shame on them-I love NZ Sav Blanc with seafood. Had to have a vodka instead. Not the same. Chairs are very uncomfortable as well.... More

But don't let that put you off. It's full of atmosphere, noisy, and at times, quite frenetic. However, it's well managed and you'll be in the hands of capable, attentive staff. The food is excellent.

My husband and I went here after the whale watch...we were lucky enough to get a seat at the bar as they were already booked and very popular with the locals. The food was excellent! My husband had the grilled lobster with garlic and butter linguine and I had the blackened swordfish. The meal was a little pricey but well... More

My wife and I went here for dinner tonight. She had the swordfish and I had the lobster, both were excellent! We came as a walk in because they were full of reservations and they got us right in seating us at the bar. Nice place, very busy and it took a while to have our order taken, but it... More
