Being in Maine we ate quite a lot of lobsters. This was the best "lobster feast" we had. The bonus was that it was also one of the most economical. The baker's dozen oysters were only $18!!!! My wife and thoroughly enjoyed that meal.

My wife and I chose this restaurant based on the Trip Advisor reviews...Once again, we were not disappointed! We arrived after 1pm on a busy Saturday and found ourselves at the end of a long waiting line for a table. I spied 2 empty barstools and quickly claimed our territory. Once at the bar, we were quickly taken care of.... More

This was our second visit and it was as good as last time. We waited at the bar for a table outside and once again enjoyed the neighborly atmosphere, friendly staff and nautical flair. Dinner was a delicious lobster pasta. It's a great place for a casual meal and the lobster roll is great.

The restaurant itself is somewhat of a dive but the lobster meal was fantastic! Our wait was about 40 minutes and the bar area was extremely crowded so we were not able to sit-down. There is limited seating outside but worth the extra wait for an outdoor table. I will definitely eat here again on my next trip.

Great place for your oysters and other fish foods. Stop there every time I get to Maine. Eating on the wharf is an experience itself.

Eat here! Simple! You can have oysters while you wait for your ferry. Fast service and good drink, eat.

Definitely a local gem. We went late Friday afternoon ( 4 ish) and the place was packed. We bellied up to the bar and placed our order from there. From our bar stools we could watch the operation in action, including the sucking and piling of oysters on ice - exactly what we came for! The local patrons where friendly... More

When in Portland, Me, head to the Old Port and dine at J's Oyster Restaurant ... the locals will be there ... you will probably have to wait for a table ... the place is small and cramped but authentic New England ... great atmosphere and location!

Ignore the interior..this place has no fried food just fresh seafood, great cole slaw, oysters, chowder and the best steamers anywhere. Prices are great because the food is consistantly good and fresh.
