I love this place. If your looking for a fantastic, low key and casual place to hang out this is it. One of my most favorite places in the world..... I'm not kidding. Beers are ice cold. Oysters are ice cold and fresh....gotta love it during happy hour when they come around and serve you free oysters! Mussels, steamers or... More

We made a stop in downtown Portland on our way up the coast to Bar Harbor. My husband read all of the good reviews about J's Lobster Rolls, so we felt we HAD to check it out! WOW! Best lobster rolls we had! Large, brimming with sweet, succulent chunks of juicy lobster! Truly authentic served in true lobster shack fashion!... More

After leaving Logan Airport to drive north to Camden, Maine, we stopped here to get lunch. On our way back to Boston, we stopped here again! This place is small with limited outside seating, but the food was great in our opinion! First of all, Portland was packed on a Saturday. Dozens of restaurants are in this commercial pier area,... We went to J's Oysters twice while recently in Portland. The first time was on a Saturday with lots of crowds and they said the wait would be an hour to an hour and a half. So we left to walk around and shop and came back about 30 minutes later. We had missed our name being called so we... More

Busy but we expected that. Waited about 40 minutes for a family of five. Food was average, nothing to write home about. Service was good and they were friendly.

The first time we tried to eat here, the place was packed. The wait system was disorganized and the staff was rushing around and not interested in helping customers who didn't know where to register or wait. So that time, we ate elsewhere. The next time we tried at about 2PM and were able to get an inside table. We... More

Wanted to have lobster while on the east coast and decided to try this place after asking for recommendations on the street. It turned out to be a good choice. The place was packed when we got there. Almost like a bar, but also with normal tables and the food was terrific. We had a couple of whole lobsters, some... More

Place was quite busy on a Friday night…outdoor seating in demand so we dined inside. Friendly staff and quaint bar. They were running out of oysters at around 8 pm but there were plenty of other tasty seafood options. Fresh, local seafood!

We went on the recommendation of our hotel as a place the locals go to. It was hopping when we got there and we had to wait almost an hour for our table even though no one was ahead of us. Then they ran out of oysters before they sat us. We had a lobster and shrimp stir fry special... More

Had a short wait, but was worth it! The view on the outside patio was great, and the weather was fantastic with the salty ocean breeze. Kids had the Miane hotdog - which was hot pink! Apparently, this is a Maine thing - and did not affect the flavor at all. Recommend the lobster stew - big meaty chunks of... More
