Give it a try! Better than DiMillio's

We enjoyed this place more than DiMillio's. We only had oysters and drinks but they were delicious. The atmosphere is also laid back and felt more authentic…like a place locals go to eat as well. Would definitely return to eat next time in the city.

We were having a few beers over at Gritty’s & talking with some locals. J’s was recommended to us, especially if we liked oysters. It had been raining quite hard all day, but everything around town seemed to be packed & J’s was no exception. We told the hostess that we would take first available & luckily for us, we... More

J's Oyster is the place to go if you're looking for good food. One can easily tell it's a popular place by the number of people who go there. Waiting for a seat is common so if you're in a hurry or looking for something fancy go elsewhere. We left our name and came back a little over an hour... More

Cool place. Been there a couple of times. Inside dining is cool. Atmosphere fun. Sat on the patio today. Great water view on patio. The staff is awesome. Had the mussels in garlic appetizer the sauce was great!! Also had the lobster scampi. Deelish!! Really like the laid back feel. Of course I had oysters too! Cool hole in the... More

The building is not eye-catching nor is the décor, but, this was one of our favorite places because it was like being at home! Drinks were good, steamed crab legs and clams were good. It is not dressy or pretentious, just a great place to have a meal and a beer or two. Mixed drinks, too!

The place was packed at 8 pm on a Sunday. We waited at the bar. Beer was not real cold. Service at bar was fair at best. Food was awesome. Sat outside and service was spotty. Sometimes good/sometimes we thought she went home! Did I mention the beer was not cold!

We were told the best place to eat was j's oyster by another business owner in town. We knew it had to be good... Even for a late lunch, there were no seats outside, so we opted to sit at the bar. For a non seafood eater, I got the mac & cheese. Also ordered was the lobster roll and... More

Went here based on better than average trip advisor reviews, all I can say is the people who gave this good reviews did not visit the truly amazing Bite of Maine or Eventide Oyster Co. The service here was lackadaisical, the lobster roll was literally nothing more than a handful of plain lobster thrown on a plain hot dog bun... More

just had the best lobster there. The food were absolutely great! However, the restaurant is not kids friendly, especially the toilet. There's no sign at the door if it's in use. And someone forced himself in when my kid was there (and probably not loud enough to let him hear the voice). Also, we couldn't find a changing table or... More

Ok experience. The locals at the bar were friendly. The food portions were smaller than expected (especially the lobster roll). I also did not like the Oyster sampler.
