What a bucket of steamers!

Sat at the bar, had a couple of beers, oysters and an amazingly delicious bucket of steamers. It was a perfect light meal to have after getting off the ferry after bicycling around Peaks Island. The others at the bar were friendly and fun.

Never have I been treated with such disrespect. The tall, blonde overweight bartender could care less whether we were there or not. She was busy doing oyster shooters rather than wait on us. The other overweight outside server told us we had to put our names on a waiting list to eat outside, yet she gladly seated two other couples... More

Loved the Oysters and Beer, what more could you ask for. Great spot and great location by the water, good service, very relaxed environment.

The half hour wait over Memorial Day Weekend was well worth it. The place packs it in with its rustic waterfront charm. Its no frills, divey atmosphere really lends to the overall experience. The raw oysters were fresh as can be and the steamers were outstanding. I could have done a bucket on my own easily. My girlfriend and I... More

Anthony bordain visited this place so we checked it out. Its true that its a local watering hole and the beer was cold (thats what the star is for) My husband wanted oysters and wherelse would we go! The bad news was they only have one oyster on the menu, they were poorly shucked (still attached and no brine!) and... More

Every time I'm in Portland my 1st stop is J's. Oysters on the half shell, a dozen or so. Sit at the bar and enjoy a well poured whisky. Been many times.

Recommended by locals, we visited this very casual restaurant. Service was friendly, not much atmosphere and food was okay. Disappointed with the very small $18 Lobster Roll - was much better at the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth. The steamers were good. Ordered the Reuben but since this is an Oyster Bar, we probably should have order them instead.

This is a order at the window and sit down kind of place. Several selections of beer and decent pitcher prices. The food was fresh and delicious. You can also sit at the bar which has about 6 seats.

This is a great local place and it shows. No pretense that it is more than what it is. Good food, nice people slinging seafood to your table as fast as they can. The oysters were great, The lobster special was delicious. My wife had the baked scallops which she said were perfect. We left full. By the way, the... More
