Divine Dinner

Cozy atmosphere. A bit tooo noisy. Tasty rack of lamb, 4 lambchops would be better than 3 for $34. Erica's and Ian's servce reminiscent of an evening at the well known Inn at Little Washington in Virginia. Best creme brulee ever. Will definitely be here for dinner next time we are in Portland.

My husband and I often travel to Portland for the restaurant scene and Back Bay is the best the city have to offer in fine dining options. We originally were placed at a small corner table. Our waitress immediately noticed we were not comfortable and offered to move us. She was fantastic throughout the meal! Ask for Erika. The only... More

Restaurant has been in an odd part of town forever - ownership changes - atmosphere fairly ordinary - but the food always remains excellent!

The first visit to this restaurant was for a family dinner of nine. Accommodations were somewhat tight but the waitstaff managed to do a very good job taking care of each individual. Service was very good as was the food. A definite return is planned.

We've been here a number of times over the years, and were there last week during Resturant Week. The service is warm, efficient but not obtrusive. The staff is knowledgable. I had a skate wing appetizer which was a little dry. My green salad with Stilton and candied walnuts was fine. The main course of flat on steak was cooked... More

Given Portland's vibrant food scene, I'm always a little sorry that we don't get to BBG more than once or twice a year. But when we do, for a special occasion, everything about this place makes us want to return: elegant, generally simple, classic food; outstanding service, good wine selection, etc.

The menu is creative and delicious. You are met at the door with a big hug from Adrian, the manager extraordinaire, who goes out of his way to make sure everything is perfect! Waiters/Waitresses are professional and always on top of things. Before the meal the chef has a special creative surprise to start the dining experience. We have loved... More

I have wanted to dine in here for years and glad we did on the 7th during Restaurant Week. First and foremost the service rivals any 5 star restaurants that we have been to. You are treated like someone special from the time you make your reservation, arrive to dine, throughout your meal, and even as you are departing. We... More

We arrived a bit early for our reservation to have a cocktail and were happy to be seated early. The staff was extremely welcoming and although located in the less gentrified area of Portland the decor is extremely comfortable. We had the steak tartar which was wonderful in presentation and flavor. For dinner we had the salmon to die for... More

If you are going to serve food at Four Star prices, you had better deliver on the taste and the service and the atmosphere, and all of the above. When I am worried about where I am parking my car. for one thing, it is hard to relax and enjoy yourself. One of the, if not the worst part of... More
