Great meal

Don't be thrown off by the off the beaten path location of this restaurant. While it's a bit sketchy of a location, the restaurant is anything but! Gorgeous atmosphere, phenomenal service & delicious food. I started with the tomato and goat cheese salad, then had the lavender duck for dinner. Both... read more

Don't let the quite, out-of-the-way location on Portland Street near the main post office put you off. There are always plenty open on-street parking spaces. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated, the servers are knowledgeable and helpful, the wine list is very good, and the meals from their ever-changing menu are the best we've had in Portland, or almost anywhere... Went with friends. Scallops and steaks were both excellent. It is not in the Old Port, but not far from. No problem getting here if you are in Portland. Worth the visit.

Have always wanted to try this place. Husband brought me for my birthday dinner. Was a little intimidated by the reputation but we had a great meal that was well worth the price.

We ate here after a few folks recommended it. I called for reservations and asked if they did a tasting menu with wine, the answer was yes. We got there the owner said that they couldn't do it on Sat night it was busy and his wine guy was off. Who lets their wine guy off on sat. I ordered... More

Back Back Grill is off the tourist path but not far from the buzzing historic Old Port. The restaurant is well-known by locals like me. It does not have a large menu, but the dishes are exquisitely prepared. On a recent visit I ordered one of their signature dishes--the best-prepared duck I have ever had. I have eaten seafood and... This is an very nice restaurant. It is a bit of a walk from the heart of downtown and appeared to be in a not-so-nice area of Portland (I wouldn't call it "unsafe", but definitely not as nice as downtown). The restaurant is small and quiet, a great place for couples. The menu is small but plentiful, and the wait... More

The Back Bay Grill was recommended to us by our Innkeepers,(Scott and Deb,) at the West End Inn B&B. They also recommended Caiolas which we tried first and loved so we made a reservation here. The Back Bay is a tradition in Portland - it's been open for 30 years or more so they know what they're about. There are... More

The restaurant is intimate and cozy and not too noisy. Easy to have a conversation. The service is top notch. Then there's the food!! Wow!! Every detail is attended too, my steak was cooked to perfection, the vegetables roasted to perfection. The Beet and arugula salad was expertly dressed and the cheese was some of the best I've had! I... More

I was recommended to this restaurant by friends who frequently eat here. The staff, from the Maitre-d ,Adrian,to the bartenders and wait staff , all are entirely professional and very friendly(at the same time!) The meal was perfect-my wife had the filet,I had the chicken. I wouldn't change a thing-one of the best!
