This was our second visit to Bay Back Grill and both dining experiences were top notch. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel "special". The staff is exceptional and very attentive. We had requested the same table as last year, a table for two in the main dining room by the window and our request was accommodated.... More

The food is very good, but I have been to many places where the food was very good. The service is what makes this restaurant really, really stand out. From the time you make your reservation until the time you walk out the door, every single person you encounter conveys that your happiness and satisfaction is their total priority--not by... More

Back Bay Grill is located well away from the waterfront area where most of Portland's culinary action occurs. This is not a plus: parking is on-street only and if you come in warm weather, you may have to navigate among the drunken denizens of the two or three nearby taverns on Portland Street. The restaurant could sure use a parking... More

Don't be thrown off by the off the beaten path location of this restaurant. While it's a bit sketchy of a location, the restaurant is anything but! Gorgeous atmosphere, phenomenal service & delicious food. I started with the tomato and goat cheese salad, then had the lavender duck for dinner. Both were amazing. My boyfriend had the foie gras, followed... More

Don't let the quite, out-of-the-way location on Portland Street near the main post office put you off. There are always plenty open on-street parking spaces. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated, the servers are knowledgeable and helpful, the wine list is very good, and the meals from their ever-changing menu are the best we've had in Portland, or almost anywhere... Went with friends. Scallops and steaks were both excellent. It is not in the Old Port, but not far from. No problem getting here if you are in Portland. Worth the visit.

Have always wanted to try this place. Husband brought me for my birthday dinner. Was a little intimidated by the reputation but we had a great meal that was well worth the price.

We ate here after a few folks recommended it. I called for reservations and asked if they did a tasting menu with wine, the answer was yes. We got there the owner said that they couldn't do it on Sat night it was busy and his wine guy was off. Who lets their wine guy off on sat. I ordered... More

Back Back Grill is off the tourist path but not far from the buzzing historic Old Port. The restaurant is well-known by locals like me. It does not have a large menu, but the dishes are exquisitely prepared. On a recent visit I ordered one of their signature dishes--the best-prepared duck I have ever had. I have eaten seafood and...
