Worth the ride!

I peddled my bike from the old port to have lunch at Susan's after reading the reviews here. I was not disappointed. My shrimp dinner was, fresh, and the breading and crispy and delicious, I am picky with my cole slaw and it was also above average. I plan to visit again.

We ate twice at Susan's during our visit to Portland. It is out of the way and we liked that it was a local place away from the crowds. Our chowder order was wrong but we opted to eat it because we had traveled all day. The fried clams and scallops were good---clams better than the scallops (lacked the sweet... More

When you first drive up to Susan's Fish -n-chips looks are deceiving If you judged by what you see you would think its a terrible place to eat but once you go inside and get your meal you soon see that there is NOTHING terrible about it. The food is amazing and at a completely reasonable price. The staff is... More

I am a huge fan of whole belly clams. Susan's does a great job of serving them up just how I like them. Lightly breaded, and with homemade tartar sauce. I usually get a combination plate as the scallops are huge and sweet. As a former resident of Portland, I never used to tell people about Susan's because I didn't... More

I did some research before coming here and I agree with reviewers that said the storefront is not very attractive. It's actually right next to a mechanic shop and almost drove by it. So we tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt and not judge a book by it's cover since it had good reviews, but we... More

These are jolly good fish and chips! We have struggled to find a good fish and chip shop in the USA which tastes like back home in England, but this one is great! It was delicious and fresh and even had english malt vinegar. :)

this place does everything correctly. it is full of locals. they serve great tarter sauce in mason jars. the cole slaw is some of the best you will taste here. there are tons of fried seafood places in maine that lack the beach/water view. get off the peninsula, ditch the sand- flea bitten shacks and eat where the locals eat.

My most favorite fish shack. Everything is delicious. I especially like the soups and the lobster rolls. It has a fun eclectic ambiance. My kids love it!

I don't believe I ever paid so much for so little in my life and that includes my first marriage! I ordered a seafood platter to include two items haddock and whole belly clams fried. I got 4 ounces of haddock and 8 clams no french fries and lousy cole slaw. All this for 15 dollars plus tax. , when... More
