How can things so simple as rainbow trout and a spit-roasted half chicken end up being among the best meals we've ever had? Wonderful setting, impeccable service, fantastic bread basket ... from start to finish just a wonderful experience.

Everything was delightful. Knowledgeable and attentive staff. Great bread to start. Terrific wine pairings for the local flounder and arctic Char we ordered. And to top it off the deserts lived up to their reputation. The original ecclectic cuisine in Portland and a must visit. Be sure to get your reservation ahead of time (as in days or weeks in... This restaurant rates as one of the top five places we tried on a trip that included top-rated places in Montréal, Halifax, Chicago, and Boston. Nothing mediocre on the menu. We favour seafood, and we were treated to the best, fresh from the fish market and pier 100 metres away. The bread is baked below, and The Standard Bakery (same... More

We visited this, one of our perennial favorites, with family just before Christmas and were not disappointed. The staff easily accommodated our party of eight with the usual attention to detail. I would say one could order anything on the menu and know it will be top-quality. I have noticed the prices are quite a bit higher than previous visits.... More

It had been several years since dining at fore street. I found the staff to be attentive but casual, the drinks creative and well done and the meal near perfect. 2 couples lounged without pressure on a busy night and I could not find an issue with the service, meal or atmosphere. It met all expectations. Note: I didn't expect... More

Living in Portland you can't get away from knowing what Fore st is and how well known it is. Having to book months in advance and being all the rage for any tourist. Well I finally got a chance to go and was sadly disappointed. Perhaps I simply expected too much. Great atmosphere love the rustic open kitchen concept with... More

After not having been for a while, we had another great meal here! I ordered mussels, which came in a wonderful broth, the mussels unfortunately were too large for my taste, next time will ask the size beforehand, but the flavor was delicious. Shared the turnip latkes with my husband, oh my goodness, they were so good could have had... More

My husband and I haven't been to Fore Street in 10 years. We decided to go when it popped up for a reservation when I was searching Open Table. We went in at 5:30 and it was crowded! Fore Street has a lovely atmosphere and good vibe - not hopping vibe, more of a lovely and relaxed vibe. The kitchen... More
