Many consider this to be Portland's, and perhaps Maine's best restaurant. They prepare excellent meat and fish, with great vegetables, with an elegant simplicity that belies the careful attention to detail. They use mostly locally sourced food. They have a very good wine list and excellent service. Very good desserts as well. The setting is an old brick facility in... More

Very good. Excellent atmosphere, great employees. Service is great, very attentive but not hovering. It is expensive though and everything Is extra. Nice for a special occasion.

Along with 555, this should be on everyone's short list. But call ahead and make a reservation. We have never had a bad meal here. I particularly like the pork chop and the hangar steak. Appetizers are all great.

After years of reading and hearing rave reviews of Fore Street we finally tried it for ourselves. We were very disappointed! The food is very good but not worth anywhere near what they are charging. The service is very average bordering on poor. The atmosphere is drab and noisy. Why is this place so popular in a town loaded with... More

My husband and I are always pleased with this restaurant. Everything is fresh and most ingredients are locally grown. I especially love their meats roasted over the open fire.

I've never been disappointed in a meal at Fore Street. One of my favorites in all of the east coast. A little expensive but worth every penny.

First off the mussels are the best and the bar area is great... we always come a bit early and have a drink in the bar. Fore Street is a very cool space with great food..

Delicious food, great presentation, but sound design makes any conversation very difficult for anyone with age related hearing loss, so sociability is missed over the food.

Be sure to make a reservation! We have friends from CT that ask if we can go here every time they visit! Excellent food, great service, funky atmosphere with lots of exposed beams and brick. If memory serves you can see the open kitchen. Good bar.
