Amazing food selection

The restaurant is fancy and definitely not cheap. It has very nice seafood selection. Some of the things on the menu I have never even heard before. I ordered razor clams, they were delicious cooked with ham and onions. I tried fiddle heads for the first time, now it's my new favorite side dish. I... read more

We knew we were in for a treat when we showed up at opening time and there was already a crowd gathered! Feasted on the whole fish offering which was Black Sea bass. Cooked to perfection. We also had the grilled hake, a local fish. It was seasoned and cooked expertly. The room was a bit noisy, but we would... More

Fore Street is by far the best restaurant in Portland, Maine. To be completely honest, it's one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Everything from the service, to the atmosphere, to the food and presentation, our experience was phenomenal. We visited Fore Street for a birthday dinner and had a table of 9. It was a Saturday night... More

The food is fresh, locally sourced, and prepared with care. This restaurant has been the standard in Portland, and continues to be even though there are now a number of other excellent options in town. If you can't snag a table, you'll like the bar and the bartenders who are all veterans here and know the menu as well as... More

There are almost no reservations so it is all put your name in and wait. We were given a time to be seated. We thought people were being seated ahead of us but the waitress assured us we were next. When we then checked with host she had lost track and we would heed to wait.

Fore Street creates exactly what I look for in a restaurant: extraordinary food, imaginatively prepared (lots of pleasant surprises), and thoughtfully served. Their menu changes daily, reflecting the availability of fresh fish and local vegetables. The menu is incredibly various and offers plates of differing sizes. Many appetizers are hearty enough to make a meal when paired with soup or... More

Stopped by for dinner on our 1st night in town. Although we were dressed like we just got off a plane, cuz we did, I only felt slightly out of place. Our waitress was courteous & attentive. I had the plaice (very good & decent sized portion) & my hubby had the halibut. He said the halibut was good but... More

Staff was amazing very accommodating. Found this restaurant last minute and felt slightly out of place at first not dressed properly and had our toddler. Server was amazing in making us feel at ease and helping to create a dish for our little one. Best food we've ever had.

Make your reservation in advance as this restaurant is very popular. Nice ambiance with open kitchen. Bread was wonderful as well as the Mussels appetizer in garlic almond butter. Hanger Steak was tasty but for $36, I would have preferred a filet. Hubby ordered the rubbed pork loin which was a great choice. Everything is ala carte so bring your... More

Excellent staff, absolutely loved the mussels - huge & delicious! The Halibut melted in my mouth, yummy buttery goodness.
