Tasty Treat

Super busy place so we thought it must be good. We were right. We sat at the oyster bar and talked with the shucker and learned a good bit about New England oysters. Great service

Recommended by a golfing buddy from the West coast, we weren't really prepared but the quality and range of raw oysters made up for inconvenience of a rather long wait, and at 3 p.m.! Friends said the clam chowder was outstanding, flavorful and not too thick from potatoes. Fried oyster salad was delicious but kinda skimpy for the price, the... More

While the food here is great you generally get the feeling that the staff thinks they are doing you a favor by allowing you to dine there. My boyfriend and I waited at the host stand while servers finished their conversations at the end of the bar. When they did seat us we received a large comfortable table along the... More

This was one of my favorite meals. Ever. The oyster selection was fantastic, fresh, and delicious. I ordered oysters raw, fried in their oyster salad, and in their oyster roll. Speaking of rolls, the lobster roll and oyster roll came on the best bun I've had. It wasn't buttery or greasy. We arrived at 11am (when they open) and they... More

The lobster roll with steamed bun and brown butter was out-of-this-world delicious. It's small size will leave you wishing you ordered 3 more... The fresh oysters were big, incredibly fresh, and flavorful - I almost felt bad for adding the red wine mignonette (but it too was delish). Chickpea fries were a delightful surprise, crispy on the outside and super... More

We ate here during a visit to Portland last weekend. I ordered a nice selection of cold water oysters and was impressed. These were no doubt some of the best oysters I've ever had. The frozen Tabasco topped it off for perfection. We also had one of the lobster rolls and it was excellent. Prices are a little steep but... More

We arrived around 1:30 and had to wait to sit, still that busy! Our oysters were excellent and worth the wait. The lobster stew, second choice as the clam beds were frozen so unfortunately no clam chowder on the menu, shows they use fresh clams for their chowder unlike other restaurants in the area. A definite return next year!

We finally were able to get in and get a seat right away, after walking by and moving on due to the crowd on several other visits to Portland. Sat at the bar, and had an incredible time! The bar staff were very friendly, attentive and up beat. The music was jammin' everyone seemed to be singing along... actually the... More

When I visited Eventide a year ago the lobster stew was one of the best stews I had ever tasted. Not so yesterday. The lobster was tough, flavorless and scarce. My wife had clam chowder that was mediocre. I did have a couple of other things that were very, very good. The razor clams were great as was the fried... More
