As many will say, this amazing, but somewhat hidden Bier cafe is one of the best belgian beer bars in the world. If you can't make it to Ebenezer's in Brunswick or are looking for a great place to eat/drink in downtown Portland, this is the place! They have one of the best collections of Belgian and Maine beers. They... More

This indoor-outdoor brewpub has a wonderful laid-back vibe, an excellent beer list, and feels far more secluded/off the beaten track from the downtown Portland scene - even though it's right near downtown. Outdoor games, an oldschool CD player blasting fun retro tunes. The food was pretty good for such a place - but not quite as excellent as I had... More

Would definitely go back for beers and the atmosphere. Awesome outdoor deck where you can play cornole and sit at picnic tables. Servers are all great. Awesome beer selection. Menu was a little lacking, so we went elsewhere for food, but would definitely go back, would just probably eat first elsewhere.

Great atmosphere, even better beer selection. This is a must stop for anyone passing through Portland looking for a fun night out with friends.

Just go, enjoy, and love it! One of my favorite dives in Portland. Beer selection is fantastic, small plates are great, ambiance is lovely, just go in the Summer. It gets a little chilly in the Winter.

We have been lucky enough to travel fairly extensively. After several visits, I am comfortable saying that Novare Res has one of the best selections of beer- in draft and bottle, I have seen anywhere in the world. Also, love the atmosphere... from the dark main bar area, to the expansive outdoor patio. Bartenders and servers are the best. Friendly... More

Novare Res Bier Cafe has probably the largest beer menu I have ever seen. Our bartender was extremely knowledgable and was able to help me pick one I loved. The atmosphere is good, just be prepared to be a little overwhelmed picking a beer!

Ok. I've been fortunate enough to drink beer in quite a few European cities, but sadly, never in Brussels. However, I think it's safe to say that Novare Res is about as authentic as you can get to a true Belgium beer drinking experiencing as there is... For someone that knows a little about craft beers and European beers, and... More

Off a courtyard among office buildings is not the first place one goes when looking for a beer bar. This made it feel like we were discovering an unknown, secret beer haven, although given the crowd, it was clearly a well known place. It is slightly below street level and with its dark wood interior, among many other features, make... More

Having lived in Belgium for four years I feel compelled to try any restaurant that has Belgium beer and food. My wife and I visited here during their Belgium beer festival and it was as good as going to Belgium. Great selection of 30+ Belgium beers and the ones we tried were excellent. It also looks like a cave inside... More
