Classic bistro

We had some business in Portland yesterday and checked out "Petite Jaqueline" a French bistro opened by the Steve Corry who owns "555". This small place's menu is centered around traditional French recipes of his mother in law. We opted for two of the five fixed price choices. There are other... read more

Call the restaurant for your reservation. We reserved on-line and had to take a time much later than we'd have liked. When we arrived at the restaurant it was virtually empty and we could have had a table much earlier. That being said, the food was really good and the servings were very generous - much more food than you'd... More

Recently made a visit with my wife celebrating our anniversary. The dining room is beautiful and cozy( it was snowing). The food was on point, house made charcuterie suggested by our server, local oysters with a delicate mignonette, followed by a salad with a soft egg and perfect white fish in butter sauce. Service was attentive and prompted us into... More

Snowy night in Portland was looking forward to our dinner with friends at Petite Jacqueline. I thought the food was good but not over the top. The French Onion soup was good but did not hit it out of the park. Our waiter who was nice and attentive did not really know the menu or the wines. The cheese plate... More

We visited Petite Jacqueline for dinner on Saturday December 15, 2012. My husband and I are Portland residents and we were joined by my in laws who live in Falmouth, Massachusetts. We love 555 and were expecting a similar experience. (555 and Petite Jacqueline are owned by the same folks.) Our experience at Petite Jacqueline was not great. Some of... More

My husband and I were headed to the Museum of Art of a Friday night and we got a reservation for two at Petite Jacqueline pretty early in the evening. Although our window seat was a bit chilly, the service and food were top notch. Everything on the menu was something we wanted to try, so we will be back... More

My partner and I were accompanied by a visiting friend on a cold Fall night and this spot couldn't have been more perfect. Onion Soup, escargot, Sole and really innovative cocktails made it more so! If you are in Portland and must have French, you must come here. Also, the people watching on Longfellow Square adds to the charm.

best french onion soup we have ever eaten. Fish was slightly over cooked. Still the meal was excellent, the service helpful and the restaurant attractive.

In the heart of Portland at 190 State Street this bistro is a find among many fine restaurants in Portland. The menu is not extensive but there is enough variety to make it interesting. The boeuf bourgingnon is delicious. The fish and oysters fresh and tasty. The service was attentive but not too- the wine list is interesting but we opted... More
