See reviews for Dancing Elephant II. We were excited to try Passage to India based on the great reviews, but only after being seated did we realize it had been sold. Food and service ok, but pricey for what we received.

We can only recommend this place! The service was very friendly. The variety is wide, the dishes were exquisite. As the portions were so generous we did take the rest home.

This is one of the good ones. Food was great, service was well done, and the decor has a nice feel to it. If you need a break from seafood, this is the place to go.

My wife and I had been eating lobster for two nights in a row and wanted something a little different. We were walking around the Old Port and found this place tucked into Wharf Street. The service we received was outstanding and the food was fresh and delicious, not too spicy. It was a really great eat!

Food at this restaurant does not even come close to a restaurant quality. Appetizers were okay. Raw spices in the entree made our food taste bitter. Bread was way too thick than what you normally would eat. Bad experience overall.

I drive to Portland from Boston with friends to spend time up there. When I am up there, I have dinner at an Indian restaurant, "Passage to India". It is hands down, the best Indian restaurant that in New England. It's my favorite place in Portland and I've made trips to Portland specifically to get dinner with friends at Passage... More

That's all one needs for a great experience, reasonably priced. Food was delicious and plentiful so that we had to take some home. They serve liquor and the atmosphere is fairly casual. We have been touring the Indian restaurants in this town and this one is tops!

WOW! I am so excited that great indian food in heart of Casco Bay!! Historic Portland is an amazing place to visit but it definitely is lacking in culinary diversity. I heard “passage to India” from Portland maps and Google Review. I decided to try it tonight with my friend. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating (only 3 tables),... More

I came by myself and was greeted and treated withcourtesy and respect, seated promptly at a nice table. The food was marvelous! I had Tandoori AtlanticSalmon, Aloo paratha bread, and Samosa. The Sizzling Salmon was so tender andspreading an amazing flavor; it almost melted in your mouth. I had anexcellent king size Kingfisher beer of India to go with dinner.... More

It was absolutely terrific! Everything from service to portion to flavor! They were so friendly and even offered me more! Great location right on a cobble stone road A must for any visit to the old port.
