Let me say, this is the old "Good Egg" place in Portland. Nothing much has changed since the 1980"s. Good food, friendly people, good prices. But, the booths are tiny. I'm of average size, 5'9 170, the booth was cramped, the table nearly touching me, even when sitting against the back of the bench. I was with other people that... More

We've eaten here before and we're never disappointed. Although it's usually a wait, particularly for a large party, the food is consistently good.

Hot Suppa is a very nice, low key eatery in downtown Portland. I had excellent ribs, collard greens and corn bread. I recommend this nice restaurant.

This place was great! The food was delicious and well priced. I would recommend the buttermilk pie which was terrific! There was a small wait at the beginning but we were quickly seated. The atmosphere was nice and there was some southern jazz playing in the background. It was quite and nit overcrowded. There was a wide variety of dishes.... More

Perhaps the best meal for the price I have ever had. Don't be fooled by the booths and casual diner atmosphere. This is top notch food at very reasonable prices. For 3 with drinks and desert it was $100. The selection of fresh local brews was outstanding. We had catfish, Cornish hen and hangar streaks for our main courses. And... More

Hot Suppa! Was one of the best meals I've had in ages! To start we had the special which was deep fried rice balls with a smokey sausage ragu. It was delightful. For our entrees I ordered the hen and dumplings and My husband ordered the cubano. The hen and dumplings was the star of the evening. It was a... More

Not sure what the hype is about. Asked for their most popular breakfast dish was and they said the corn beef hash. This was nothing special. This was average at best. The home fries were those cheap tasteless shredded potatoes. Again nothing special. The scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked and the toast was very good. We also had their corn... More

Each time we visit Portland, we enjoy breakfast at Hot Suppa. It's a nice walk from our hotel. The corned beef hash is excellent. Grits are always a treat. The coffee is hot. Be prepared to wait for a table. There were only a couple of people in line ahead of us when we arrived, but shortly thereafter, there were... More

Amazing food, delicious drinks. Best bloody mary in town by far. Hash special was spectacular. If they are serving it when you visit, get it.

amazing grits and bloody marys. The place fills up on weekends ,but weekdays you rarely have to wait. What's wrong with waiting a little bit anyway?
