This is a great place for eggs Benedict. I got one of the special "Bennies" of the day, the Texas Beef Chili Benedict, and their Cajun Bloody Mary. Both were delicious.

A delightful visit to Maine ending why Hot Suppa! Your only problem here is going to be deciding what to eat! Our server, Tara, was attentive, personable, and shared with us her favorites and gave us recommendations based on our feedback - everythingwas delish. If...you like spicy, get the cajun bloody mary. We shall return on our next trip to Maine.More
Unfortunately I will never return to this place. I've been going there since they opened, have spent thousands of dollars as a patron, have sent probably hundreds of people there as it was always my favorite brunch spot. I always expect a wait because it's...a popular place, due to the amazing food. However, on this past Friday, I walked in shortly after they opened with my teenage niece. They already had a wait. The host asked how many (although there were two of us standing in front of her). She asked the name and I told her, which she seemed to have issue with, which was awkward enough. She said it will be about a 5 minute wait. After about 10 minutes, someone walked into the restaurant that was apparently with someone who was waiting. That person went up to the host and told her friend had arrived and they were immediately sat at a table. Time continued to pass and then the host called my name. She took us to sit at the bar. I said, "We would prefer a table" (you know because my niece is a child and shouldn't be sat at a bar) and the host was upset about that and rudely said, "Well it's going to be a longer wait then." I asked, "Can I ask you a question?" She said yes in a rude tone. I asked, "Don't you all usually require the whole party to be here in order to be put on the wait list to be seated" because that is literally what I've been told on more than a handful of occasions in the years I've been a patron of this establishment. She said, "NO! and if you don't like it you can find someplace else to eat." I was very taken aback. I said, "Wow. I"m a patron. I've been coming here since you all opened." She said, "If you don't stop being rude, I'm going to ask you to leave." I said, "I wasn't being rude, I simply asked a question based on how it's always been done when I've come in." She insisted I was being rude. I've never seen this host before but my sense is she's transphobic or homophobic based on her initial response to even my name. I have only ever been treated really nicely there but unfortunately, this is enough to make me never return.More
Delicious!!!! Service and food were amazing. I had chicken sandwiche, son and husband had biscuits and gravy. They really enjoyed it. Hard to please my husband with hash browns and these were cooked to perfection. Don't hesitate or be discouraged from 30 minute wait.. ITS...WORTH IT!More
The friendliness of the staff, coupled the food choices, and quality of the food was just excellent
We were a little suspicious of a "southern kitchen" in Porland, ME. Color us completely impressed! I had the Fried Green Tomato Benedict - I highly recommend (note - if you do not like fried green tomatoes this is not for you). My husband had...the pulled pork breakfast sandwich. We are from TX and he said it was one of the best he'd ever had. Way to go Hot Suppa! Please continue doing what you do :-)More
We went to Hot Suppa on our druve out of Portland. We did this last summer too at the end of our weekend there. It’s becoming a tradition. Because we stay at the Waterfront, it’s not that convenient to get here without a car, so...this is our way to include Hot Suppa. It is by far the best breakfast around! There is no parking at the restaurant, but we have had no problem getting on street meter parking. There is typically a wait. We waited about 15 minutes. Worth the wait. The service is friendly and attentive. My husband got the Eggs Benedict and loved it. I usually get an French Toast, but this time I got the Scrambalaya. It was a great choice. A little bit of spice. I did miss my French Toast though. Big thumbs up for Hot Suppa. It didn’t disappoint.More
Great food and service. The grits were perfect and the bacon is on point. Just make sure to get there early or you may have to wait a bit, but its very much worth it.
My wife and I had breakfast here on our recent trip to Portland. We arrived around 10 am and there was still a 25 minute wait. It’s worth the wait!!!!! We asked our waitress if we should share the Mother Clucker? We are glad we...did! Plenty of food. We added a side of bacon and cheddar on top of the grits! The coffee was good and I also ordered a caramel latte. Good food and plenty of it! Even though we shared, we still couldn’t eat all of it! There’s nice artwork offered for sale on the walls by a local artist. Lastly, a thank you to our very nice server!More
Went on a rainy Saturday morning. We had a very short wait to be seated. Coffee was excellent. We ordered the Cluckin biscuits and shrimp and grits. The grits came with cheese which was delicious. The biscuits and chicken was unbelievably delicious. The shrimp grits...were the best I’ve had. This is a must try. Service was excellent also.More
Fantastic mom & pop place!!! We always look for something different when we travel. This place did not disappoint! Best shrimp & grits I've ever had. Great service especially for our group of 8. A must stop restaurant in Portland, ME
Very tasty food and great service. Definitely a place to check out while in Portland. I recommend the pulled pork and egg sandwich.
This restaurant was one we passed several times while we walked from our hotel into Downtown Portland and, after reading about it online, we thought we'd give it a try. We arrived late morning and immediately were seated and given menus to look at. In...addition to "the classics", they offered several daily specials, including a "seasonal scramble" of asparagus and cheese - which my wife ordered - and something they called a "Scrambalaya" which was, as you might think, jambalaya baked in to an egg dish, which of course I had to try. Ordering two house coffees, we waited patiently (not too long) for our food. The friendly waitperson delivered our food and, wow, was it good. The portions were very fair - not too much, which is the tendency these days, it seems - and both we really nicely prepared. with the chicken and smoked sausage (and cheddar cheese) in the Scrambalaya perfectly spiced. My wife's egg dish was made with a creamy lemon ricotta cheese and tender asparagus and was served with a crispy potato hash, while I opted for a nice side of grits, which we creamy, buttery - just perfect. All in all, the food, service and ambiance we all quite good, and the only reason I didn't give it five stars was because we thought that it was a bit expensive. Our egg dishes were $17 each, but as we found out during our stay in the area, most restaurants are a bit expensive. I know that keeping the quality high and the staff happy are important goals, but they also added a 4% charge for "kitchen appreciation", which seems to be another common practice these days. In any case, if you're in the area and want a really good breakfast/brunch (many other good choices on the menu), this place deserves strong consideration.More
This place was great. Amazing breakfast. Great quality food, equally good service and a nice place. Fair prices too. Definitely worth seeking out.
Based on a recommendation from my Uber driver. Walked to Hot Suppa, sat at the bar and it was amazing! Had the fried green tomato BLT and an iced mocha! Wasn’t sure how I was going to bite the sandwich, but after one bite kept...going and going until it was gone! Highly recommend visiting Hot Suppa!More
