I know there must be sub-par restaurants, bars, or bakeries in Portland, but I still haven't come across them. The Standard Bakery has wonderful crusty baguettes, flaky croissants, and sticky buns that are sweet and tender. Every time we come to Portland, we stop at Standard. Get there early for the best selection. Oh yes, the Chocolate Core is moist,... More

This is the best bakery and not to be missed if you're in Portland. It might be tricky for a first timer to find because it's deeply offset, but look for it alongside the Hilton Garden Inn hotel. It's on Commercial St directly across from the Casco Bay Lines parking indoor parking lot. You might see a line outside the... More

The cinnamon rolls, coconut macaroons, the berry buckle, the tarts and of course the bread are all fabulous - even the coffee and tea are great. We have a friend who grew up in Germany and cried when she tasted the bread because it was so similar to the bread she ate in Europe. I hesitated to write this review... More

We bought some great chocolate cookies here. Could have devoured most everything they had - all looked great. Lots of breads and pastries packed into a small space. A few outdoor tables overlooking a parking lot to sit and have coffee.

What a great bakery in the heart of downtown with so many wonderful finds. My personal favorite - the buckwheat raspberry scone. My husbands favorites were the chocolate croissant or the gingersnap cookies. I wish that we had a kitchen so I could have cooked dinner and added a loaf of the olive bread that looked so fantastic. The lobster... More

Walked over to the Standard Baking Co. for breakfast while in Portland and found myself in bread heaven. The sheer number of baked goods present was amazing as well as tasty.

This is the best bakery that we have visited in Maine! Bread was outstanding- our favorite is Organic Maine Grain, which will not disappoint! Pastries are very tasty. We loved the Financier and Gallet, the scones, croissants, and cookies! Don't miss this establishment if you are anywhere near Portland!
