Some of the most delicious breads in town, just steps away from the Hilton Garden Inn, where we stayed...and just under Fore Street, Portland's best restaurant. (They bake the bread for the restaurant.) Not a lot of pastries and cakes...more of a rustic bakery. But what they've got is wonderful.

Whenever we are in Portland, we stop in to get some treats, because whatever we get, sweet or savory, it is almost addictive. It's a small spot, and the variety of baked goods ensures that their is something for everyone, and every meal, and in-between meal.

Standard Baking Co. is ranked on this site as one of the top restaurants in Portland, which is somewhat ironic, as it is not really a restaurant. If you love quality, taste, and fabulous baked goods there is no better place to go. We love almost everything. Don't forget to try the ham and cheese croissant, rustic apple tart, chocolate cork, galettes, financier, fougasse and the olive loaf. The quality is consistent! Enjoy!!!

We sampled a few pastries and bought bread. All were excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. The array of artisan baked goods was right from Europe. This is right next door to the Hilton Garden Inn. It's really worth the trip. th irs

Very nice selection of baked good and coffee. We had hoped to sit and eat with our small kids but they are not set up for that. Only takeout. They were cool and let us squat on their interior bench and make a mess, so snaps to them for that.

We decided to stop by the Standard Baking Co. for a treat during our walk around Portland. I had the gingerbread and my husband had a scone. OMG! It was so delish! They also had bread samples....another OMG!! I highly recommend this bakery.
