Great baked goods, prone to humanity gridlock in summer and especially cruise ship season. Pricey, muddled service.

I am a bread aficionado, and this is some of the best I've ever had. I happened upon this place by chance as I was heading home after a weekend in town, and I will definitely be coming back. I brought some baguettes and a roasted garlic loaf home for dinner along with 2 loaves of cinnamon bread. The garlic... More

Happened upon this little gem of a bakery after a disappointing meal at the Porthole. Wished I'd just come here 1st! Wonderful coffee and the best cup of tea I've had out in ages. Wonderful selection of breads, scones and cookies. Had a delicious molasses spice cookie. Thank God this place is not too close to home or I'd be... More

Great little bakery that does everything with excellence. They offer sweet and savory pastries along w/ freshly baked breads that are absolutely delicious. We tried a cinnamon roll, cheese Danish, peach galette, croissant, and a basic roll. They have a nice rotation of items daily and this makes a great spot for a light breakfast. No seating indoors and their... More

If you love carbs, this is the place for you- everything we had was great- beyond par! Chocolate rye cookie (a deep, complex chocolate/ brownie with a touch of fudge in convinient cookie form) The lemon blueberry tart was not too sweet with a solid short crust pastry. And the olive bread - man it had olives all throughout the... More

Top bakery directly below Fore Street restaurant. Outstanding breads, and perfect for breakfast for pastries and coffee.

Be prepared to wait in line with tourists and locals to sample the range of great products at Standard Baking. Next to the Hilton Garden Inn at the Portland Harbor, Standard Baking offers a range of bread, pastries (mainly laminates such as croissants), cookies, and granola. My favorite over two mornings of sampling products was the marinated olive roll -... More

We got a little bit of everything. The brioche was my favorite but the croissants were also wonderful.

Food (pastries) was some of the best I've had. Coffee was pretty good, too. If you're walking by, getting something from The Standard Baking Co. is a must.

Amazing quality baked goods, especially the croissants and cookies. Perfect texture and level of sweetness. The almond croissants go fast; one of the most delectable treats you will eat! Line moves quickly, staff is friendly, and nice variety. Bought bread for sandwiches, which was also excellent, with a super crusty outside! Amazing!!
