This is my first time coming to Portland ME. My Japanese friend recommended Miyake and to be honest this is THE BEST BEST Japanese restaurant I have ever tasted in America. I have been living in US for 16 years and Miyake is by far the best!!!!! Everything I tried "Bento Box" was fantastic. The miso soup is out of... More

I came here for a birthday and am sad I have never come sooner. I had honestly thought it would be like any other sushi I have had, just your standard rolls with a nice atmosphere and maybe higher grade fish. Wow was I wrong. This is sushi unlike any I have had before, the whole experience from walking in... More

We had the omakase and sake pairing. So delicious and succulent. Standouts: the oyster in dashi, the duck breast, the toro, and the lobster sashimi. For dessert, chocolate pudding with miso caramel cream. Fabulous.

We recently went for lunch and for $10 enjoyed the choice of two types of rolls (8 actual rolls served) and Miso soup. I thought the soup was exceptional. We added the edamame side - lightly salted and delicious. A glass of very good wine topped off an excellent lunch. I do not frequent Japanese restaurants so I asked my... More

I'm a foodie and I think that this place has the best Japanese food! I end up getting like 4 sushi rolls because it is so amazing! Love it!

We went to the flagship restaurant on Fore Street. Very sophisticated, perfectly done. We each had the chef's tasting menu with some similar and some different dishes. We both had the seafood over sushi rice. My husband's was slightly different so it could be gluten free.(They were very accommodating. (Thank goodness tamari has no wheat!) He had the black cod... Your best choice for sushi in Maine. Maine has great seafood and Portland is a great foodie town, so this is not damning with faint praise. The chef's selection of Nigiri or Sashimi are quite good, but the best option is the Omakase chef's tasting menu. Sit at the bar and watch the action, or take a table in the... More

We were happily surprised to find an exceptional Japanese-themed experience in Portland at Miyake. The flagship of the chef's local venues is in the old harbor area on Fore Street, an easy walk from most large hotels. Reservations are a must at this popular restaurant, and we were able to get a late seating on a Saturday night. We both... More

My husband and I went here at the recommendation of a local gentleman we met at lunch. We walked in after a day on the boat and we were pleasantly surprised The food was pricey but well worth it. Ver interesting presentation.
