Fantastic!!!

We almost walked out when we saw the a la carte sushi prices. Then we saw the "pick four" dinner for $50. The choices were hard to pick from as they all sounded so wonderful. They sure didn't disappoint. The miso black cod, the swordfish, the pork belly with fried oyster and the super toro roll... read more

The six course omakase menu was a real treat. Several of the dishes presented an entirely new flavor or texture or ingredient and I thoroughly enjoyed not knowing what was coming next. The quality of the dishes, the flavors, and the service were all outstanding. Pictured is a grilled oyster (huge) with crisped duck skin, celeriac bubbles, and a crazy... More

My husband and I decided to have dinner at Miyake based on the great reviews the restaurant has received on TA. We understood this wasn't going to be an average sushi place, and were not disappointed. When we walked in, the hostess was friendly and promptly sat us. The restaurant is small and the tables are close together, so you'll... More

I've been to Miyake twice now. I really enjoy the atmosphere and it is a unique dining experience. You will almost certainly taste new flavors, but potentially not ones that you want to write home about. We chose the 4 plates for $50 dollars. The plates are small, which we enjoy having a little bit of everything. The first time... More

This restaurant was recommended, then we saw Miyake was nominated for best chef. We arrived and were seated right away. The service is friendly but not very professional. We were hoping to enjoy the food there as much as we do at Iyasare in Berkeley. When the first dish arrived I was hopeful, when I tasted it I asked myself... More

With exquisite attention to detail in the selection of ingredients, preparation of dishes and in the selection and training of his knowledgeable staff, Chef Masa Miyake has created the best 5 star dining experience in the intensely competitive restaurant scene in the foodie city of Portland, Maine. Try the chef's selections, they ate expensive but worth every penny.

This place was recommended to us from locals when mentioning great places to dine and sushi. We of course looked on trip advisor and the reviews were outstanding with some minor service mishaps so we were excited to give this place a try. The service was fine not one problem there however this is not what someone might consider sushi!... More

My wife and I went here to celebrate our anniversary during a get away to Portland. I love Japanese food and we had done some homework to find the best place in Portland, plus we had seen Andrew Zimmern eat here on his TV show. The place is pretty small and contemporary as opposed to having a traditional Japanese atmosphere.... More

A very special meal with food preparations you won't find anywhere else in Portland. I don't think it's the "best sushi" in Portland… The fish is fresh and expertly prepared, but I know one place I would rather go for sushi. That being said, the Japanese cuisine here is elevated and elegant. We ordered an Omakase meal and a 4... More

We were wanting Japanese food, and this restaurant turned out to be perfect. It was steamy warm on a very cold night, filled with customers obviously enjoying the food. We shared 4 small plates so we cold have a variety of foods and they were all excellent. We finished by sharing a bowl of low broth miso soup with many... More
