Sushi was excellent, as was seaweed salad and other things we ordered. Food was presented beautifully, and service was efficient and unobtrusive.

Portland, Maine is one of our favorite getaway spots from the hectic NYC pace. It is also just a wonderful laid back and beautiful places to visit. As NYers, food is a big deal for us and Miyake is a MUST DO when visiting. It is an intimate place, not too big or tight and the food is simply fantastic.... More

My husband (of Japanese ancestory) had the chef's choice sushi option which was creative and all excellent according to him. It was good quality fish skillfully prepared worth the price. I had salmon appetizer and pork cutlet coated in Parmesan and panko crumbs. Excellent. Beer and wine is available.

Dropped in for quick bite at lunch and was well pleased. Their take on the ubiquitous lobster roll was the highlight but the pork belly wasn't far behind. Wish I had more time to explore the menu further.

This restaurant is truly amazing. The Omakase is unique, affordable and all food presented is of the absolute highest quality. The ingredients are all local, which puts a really cool spin on typical Japanese fare. We sat at the sushi bar, which made the experience even better. The chefs were friendly and cooperative willing to explain everything they were doing... More

The Omakase is delicious and very creative. You'll have the best experience sitting right up at the sushi bar so you can watch all of the talented chefs work. The price is also spot on, $65 for 8 courses all of which are delicious. Some of the highlights are the raw Maine lobster on the first sashimi platter and the... More

We almost walked out when we saw the a la carte sushi prices. Then we saw the "pick four" dinner for $50. The choices were hard to pick from as they all sounded so wonderful. They sure didn't disappoint. The miso black cod, the swordfish, the pork belly with fried oyster and the super toro roll were outstanding; complicated, creative... More

We arrived in Portland last night and tried to get in to see a Brandi Carlisle concert last minute to no avail so I thought good sushi may take my mind off of this disappointment. After checking into the Portland harbor hotel we discover Miyake which just happens to be in the same building as the hotel. We decide to... More

The six course omakase menu was a real treat. Several of the dishes presented an entirely new flavor or texture or ingredient and I thoroughly enjoyed not knowing what was coming next. The quality of the dishes, the flavors, and the service were all outstanding. Pictured is a grilled oyster (huge) with crisped duck skin, celeriac bubbles, and a crazy... More
