Fantastic Experience

Six of us enjoyed a fabulous meal at Miyake. I was the only one to do the omakase menu, but that worked out quite well. We shared all of the dishes and every single one was perfectly prepared. Pristine sashimi and shellfish were the norm. The omakase menu was well balanced the worth it. However, selecting four courses off the... More

I was really craving sushi and we tried out Miyake since it was so highly rated. It is not exactly a sushi restaurant, thinK Nobu. We did the four course tasting menu. Each course was more delicious then the next. Every dish was stunningly beautiful. The meal was expensive but so worth it.

We came to the place, hoping to have the best sushi ever, as recommended. The sushi was not as good as we expected, I've had better in Costa RIca. But the fusion dished were really good. The duck breast dish and the lobster with rice are wonderfull, we even had 2 of the duck breast plate! I would recomend to... More

Reminiscent of fine dining in Japan. The menu tends to change everyday. This isn't like a typical Sushi Bar as it doesn't have the standard checklist of numerous rolls and sashimi. Instead you select some specialty dishes for four different courses. As your in Portland, go for the Lobster ones.

Nice cute restaurant. Ordered $55 four courses set. Portion was right. Pork belly with fried oyster was delicious. Miso grilled cod was not bad either.

We have traveled in Japan extensively and rarely find Japanese food in the US, especially in smaller cities, that is satisfactory. Miyake was exceptional. Inventive, yet authentic. Local and farm to table, yet captured the essence of the Japanese flavors.

Sushi was excellent, as was seaweed salad and other things we ordered. Food was presented beautifully, and service was efficient and unobtrusive.

Portland, Maine is one of our favorite getaway spots from the hectic NYC pace. It is also just a wonderful laid back and beautiful places to visit. As NYers, food is a big deal for us and Miyake is a MUST DO when visiting. It is an intimate place, not too big or tight and the food is simply fantastic.... More
