The food was very good and we enjoyed the atmosphere but it would have been quite expensive without the coupon/discount we used. The sad news is that they have since closed. Sorry, but you can visit their other location in Manchester, NH.

Brazillian Steakhouse - alot of food for the money. The salad bar is nice and they have some authentic drink specials. Not my first choice for Old Port dining.

If you have never been to a Brazilian steak house before, this is a must. If you have already dined, the food is "OK". Nothing super spectacular to write about here.

Whenever we are in Portland, it is always a great dinner. Have been here several times and have always enjoyed our meal! Have been for Birthdays and Anniversaries and always have had great service and food.

I visited Gauchos as part of a largish group and found the experience disappointing compared to other churrascarias. Some of the cuts of meat were very good, but others fell flat, and we found the salad bar and service to be lacking. Overall it wasn't the kind of experience that made us want to repeat. If you've been to a... More

As someone who has seen gauchos behind the scenes, I would STRONGLY advise you to spend your money elsewhere. While the happy hour is a great deal, you truly get what you pay for. Every bar appetizer, has been defrosted, tossed in a dirty frialator and then arranged on your plate by unwashed hands. The owner, Jose Nieves, is a... More

We were just walking down the street when we saw the sign for 5 dollar martinis. I figured how bad can a 5 dollar martini be? Try the candy apple martini! The bar tenders are great! They even have bar appetizers for 5 bucks! We ended up making it our dinner that night. The restaurant looks great, but we did... More

This is a letter sent over 10 days ago to the manager of this restaurant. The e-mail letter was read within minutes of it being sent, yet we never contected by anyone at this organization. To the Manager; We recently planned a trip to Portland from Bridgton, where we operate an inn year round, to visit your restaurant. Our dinner... More

While I will admit I am not an expert in Churrascarias as some previous commenters, I will say that I am a foodie and have eaten pretty much all styles of food, tried a lot of different types of meats, and been to many a gourmet restaurant. I went to Gauchos for the first time in January, and was back... More

This restaurant is one of the best that I have ever tried! Gauchos offers a world-class dining experience at a very fair price. For $30, you get a selection of 12 meats and grilled salmon, plus traditional side dishes of baked beans, rice, fried plantain, yucca fries, small baby potatoes. You also get piping hot rolls with cheese stuffing and... More
