Dining at Emilitsa is an adventure in the discovery of the best of Greek cuisine. Food is expertly prepared. Patrons are never rushed. Servers are very knowledgeable about the ingredients, and inquire about taste preferences. Dinner begins with an amuse bouche from the chef. The night we were there it was a fabulous chick pea puree with sweet onion. The... More

Portland has a lot of restaurants to choose from, but time after time Emilitsa hits the spot. The food, atmosphere and service are superb. The classic Greek favors and authentic Greek wines only add to your evening and dining pleasure. Emilitsa is easy to overlook, but seek it out you will not be disappointed.

This small restaurant is a treat to visit. The best Greek food I've ever had (including in NYC). It is the only place where I will eat squid - it is tasty and not chewy. While not extensive, the wines offered are excellent and pair nicely with the food offered. Excellent preparations of fish and lamb. The vegetarian choice is... More

We went to Emilitsa's for dinner before a concert at the State Street Theater. Everything about this restaurant is first~class---the food, the presentation, service, ambiance and location. The grilled octopus was some of the best I've ever had. There were so many great choices on the menu it was difficult to decide what to order. The swordfish was out of... More

I went to Emilitsa's for my birthday, and it could not have been better. The service was great and the food was delicious. We had a complimentary lentil purée with crostini to start with, spanakopita, and souvlaki and moussaka with baklava for dessert. Everything was wonderful. Even my partner, who is a picky eater, loved every dish. I thought the... More

Hands down the best Greek food ever! The Souvlaki was delightful, the swordfish excellent. Service right on the money and a wonderful setting. Can't go wrong coming here!

One of Portland's better kept culinary secrets. Emilitsa's is a great dining experience all around, from the fabulously prepared Greek food, that was so flavorful and cooked to perfection, to the wonderful service. The moussaka was perfection! We enjoyed the ambiance and look forward to our next visit.

We were very much looking forward to our visit to Emilitsa, so before we ventured from Boston to Portland we called a couple of days ahead to make a reservation for Saturday night. We got the answering machine and were told that to reserve a table, to leave a message with all the details -- date, time, number in party... More

This restaurant was recommended by a good friend from the West Coast who said that it was the best Greek food in the USA (and his recommendations carry weight because of his international experience). We took our daughter and her fiance out for her birthday, and with so many choices in Portland, some of which we have found disappointing despite... More

Its surprisingly hard to find good Greek food in New England. And even harder to find good upscale Greek cuisine. Emilitsa delivers beautifully on this. We had such a nice meal I don't think I can find anything to criticize. The braised rabbit with spinach and feta wrapped in phyllo was outstanding. The grilled whole fish was very simple, but...
