What a pleasant surprise to find a great Modern Greek restaurant in Portland Maine. The food and service were exceptional. The chef has taken the authentic Greek flavors to new heights. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Went to Emilitsa for my 50th birthday. We have been there several times for special occasions. They have a chicken liver appetizer with a vinegar buerre blanc I have had before which I really like except for the sauce. I asked if they would make the buerre blanc without the vinegar or just leave the sauce off. They refused. I... More

I have heard of Emilitsa for years and finally got there this during this Fourth of July holiday period with my mother and other half. What a treat! The moussaka was in a league of its own. Everything that people ordered was superb. It is definitely a "special occasion" kind of restaurant, but it delivers.

We visited on Wed night and all in our party of 5 agreed that our meals made "top 10 in lifetime" category. Our server, Beth, was perfect. She knew the menu well, was friendly, and there when needed to assist with ordering. She and the kitchen also obliged us and served an appetizer we requested which was not on the... More

Not a "fine food" establishment. Protein overcooked, not to order. All food over salted. Wine is hot.

Emilitsa has been one of our favorite Portland restaurants for many years, although it doesn't seem to get the press that some of the others do. My wife and I dropped in on July 3, grabbed seats at the bar, and had an exquisite time sharing appetizers and sampling Greek and other Mediterranean wines from the unique wine list. John... More

Our first time here and loved it. We started with the pita and dipping spreads-delicious. Husband loved the halibut; Son had the moussaka (great taste and texture) and I had the chicken. All with such great flavors.Everything was fresh. Biggest regret-we didn't have dessert. The service was delightful and the atmosphere was comfortable. We had a window seat and enjoyed... More

Everything about our visit here was great. The service was excellent and, more importantly, the food was superb. I tried their homemade sausage for an appetizer, and had the lamb chops for a main course. Both exceeded my expectations. The wine list was very interesting. I've been to lots of Greek restaurants in a number of cities and for some... More

We live in Portland and have enjoyed trying her many restaurants. It is a great treat to have such a wide variety to choose from. However, we always return to Emilitsa's for special occasions or when we're taking family out to dinner. There just isn't anything better. Last Friday, I had the duck; my wife had the lamb... both were... More

Dinner at Emilitsa over Memorial Day weekend was indeed memorable. The server made great wine suggestions and answered all of our questions about the menu. She even filleted the whole daurade at the table. Every dish was light, flavorful and fresh. We will be back!
