Consistently Excellent

John and his great team really know how to deliver a consistently excellent dining experience. The "bread plate" alone is worth going for - a sweet lentil hummus with onion served with olive oil splashed toasted bread points - wow!. This restaurant is like a good book, it keeps you interested and on your toes and doesn't flag in the end. The food is inventive, excellently prepared and presented. The service is attentive but not cloying. Very comfortable atmosphere. Interesting wine list. There are many choices from Boston to Portland and this is one of our favorites.

We decided to try Emilitsa on a Friday afternoon and we're pleased we could get a reservation for the same day. Everything from the warmth of the phone call onward were excellent. Our table was comfortable, the noise level was fine, service was unobtrusive but prompt, and the food was delicious. I am unfamiliar with Greek wine and our waitress,... More

I grew up eating traditional Greek food. I mean the home made stuff, served with love. Over the years I have gone to many Greek restaurants. Some I enjoyed, some not so much. Something was always missing. Well let me tell you, they have hit the nail on the head. I felt like we were eating a home cooked meal. The... More

Grandpa was our sitter for the night and we were trying to think of where to go to make the most of a town we used to know so well. We set out to stroll and see what drew us in. I usually don't go for Greek food, but Emilitsa grabbed our attention and made for the perfect night. I... More

Had a great time here hosting a dinner for 6 staff members of mine. Each of us ordered something different and there truly was something for each of our varied tastes. Appetizers, wine selection, entrees, and desserts were awesome, and ambiance was quite nice as there are tables in more populous areas and in quieter areas of the restaurant.

I think my handsome husband is pretty perfect but so too is my favorite restaurant in the State of Maine. Yes, Emilitsa. When my husband and I desire a perfect place, for a perfect meal, with perfect service and, yes, perfect portions - especially considering the quality and the cost [read: extremely fair] - we come here. It's always delicious... More

The reviews are pretty accurate so no surprises or disappointments for us. Limited menu but all 5 of us found something to order. We ate early on a weekday and glad we did - I think it could get fairly noisy when filled to capacity as there isn't any sound absorbing material on the walls. But the atmosphere is very... More

We arrived late to Portland . Late and hungry. Looked for Greek and found Emilitsa on the top of the list. Well, they deserve it. Starting from the Greek twist of the Sazerak to the delicious Souflaki. The incredible Octopothi together with the tasty rabbit, all accompanied with a chilled and dry Retzina white wine. Loved it.
