Great post-hike breakfast

After a lovely early morning hike, we stopped in here to get some breakfast. It was really terrific. Great breakfast classics, like pancakes, and some more local twists, like a lobster omelette. We were late enough in the morning that selection from the bakery was somewhat limited, but we still... read more

This place is a gem. Staff is friendly. Coffee and doughnuts were delicious. We can't wait to go back.

This restaurant has very average food. My husband and I were recently in Lubik Maine where the seafood was oustanding and very large portions. Our bread was poor quality not toasted or crisp. Plastic silverware is a turnoff for what items cost on the menu. The seafood casserole was small with very little butter or sauce in the dish. My... More

I'm sorry for the poor meal but I feel this review is for a different restaurant. We have no plastic silverware and we also make all of our bread onsite because we are a bakery as well. In 30 plus years have never had a complaint about our homemade bread. The next time your in town stop by "The Colonels"... More

The lobster sliders were fun and the lobster tasted fantastic. Fried scallops delicious. Best donuts ever in bakery. Service was quick and efficient. The food came quickly and the beer selection was good. We may never taste a donut that good again

We had a very dull meal here. The salmon was tasteless, although it was the catch of the day. The same for the ribs. No flavor. When the waitress brought the salad and bread she did not bring place settings. Fortunately we were able to get them from another waitress along with our drinks. She kindly checked in with us... Colonel's serves up a hearty breakfast with lots of great options. Our family of four always enjoy coming here for at least one breakfast while on MDI. I love the lobster omelet as it's got plenty of lobster meat and a nice hearty serving. The other omelets are creative and tasty, as well as the more traditional egg, bacon, home... More

We stopped by yesterday when we were in Northeast Harbor to go to the Library. Both of us had a sweet tooth so we popped in to the Colonel's. They had really good day old pumpkin donuts. We got two pumpkin donuts, my partner also got a glazed twist and we shared a cinnamon roll. All were good, but I... More

The Colonels Restaurant is a quaint little restaurant and bakery in downtown Northeast Harbor, just 20 min. from Bar Harbor. The food is very good and the bakery has fresh handmade doughnuts and pasteries that are out of this world. I had the fish and chips for lunch and a huge blueberry doughnut from the bakery for dessert. Very nice1

We had just finished visiting the nearby Rockefeller Gardens and I was overdue for lunch...I'm diabetic. Colonel's was the nearest, so we went. We both had sandwiches, which were fresh, tasty, and very generously sized. The server was friendly and fast. I did peek at their bakery items which looked delicious, but oh well...

We went there while touring Northeast Harbor. It is a quaint town on Mt. Desert Island in Maine outside of Bar Harbor. We stopped in for a cup of chowder. It was amazing, so we took a chance on dinner. The food was terrific, the price was exceptional considering the area and the service was great. Great chowder. Seafood is... More
