Great lunch

We stopped for lunch after a long morning in Acadia Park. We had stayed there in 2012 so we knew about this place. You might drive past if you did not know about it. They have all the requisite lobster dishes but we were there for lunch so I had a Ruben, my sister had a French Dip and my... read more

There's a lot of casual family owned lunch spots on Mt Desert Island. Many of them are pretty bad and rely on uninformed one time tourists for the business. Their low quality certainly suggests they aren't reliant on repeat business. Not so for this place - it was pretty good. I had the stereotypical lobster role, but given this restaurant... More

We stumbled upon this place on our first full day on MDI. I had the lobster and scallop casserole, hubby had their version of a cheese steak which he said was delicious, and teen daughters each had a pasta dish. The girls had plenty of leftovers to take home. The bread and rolls are baked onsite and we could not... More

My husband & I stumbled upon The Colonel's Restaurant on our way to Bar Harbor after a full day at Acadia National Park. Our first impression was that it was just a bakery, but then we saw a sign that said that the actual restaurant was down the hallway to the right. We decided to sit at the bar, and... More

We ordered three sandwiches to go and enjoyed them very much. One was a turkey wrap , which was tasty. Another was a ham and cheese on wheat bread and another was chicken salad on white bread. They all seemed fresh.

A local recommended this place to us as we were walking in. Had the crab melt with fish chowder. Not too shabby. Also stopped by the bakery on way out. Donuts are delicious, especially blueberry ones!

The chocolate and blueberry cake doughnuts were so, so good. I wish I had bought more. And my crab melt was amazingly tender and sweet. Highly recommend this place.

Our server was not familiar with the beers at the place and did not get someone to assist us when we asked for a beer similar to shock top. She just said she had no idea, because she did not drink. That was not expected, so we ordered diet beverages instead. The pizza was very good. When we asked for... More

While out exploring, we passed Colonel's Restaurant and Bakery. There didn't seem to be anywhere else in the area to eat, so we decided to give it a try. Glad we did! Fresh ingredients, varied menu, great service. Our sandwiches hit the spot and we left comfortably full, but not stuffed. With no room for dessert, we each got a... More

We stumbled onto this gem while driving around Mt Desert. We stopped for lunch. The food was excellent, the ingredients were fresh and the portions were generous. The service was quick and the staff friendly. Nothing but nice things to say. Nicely done!!
