Waitstaff was very good. The food was not. Restaurant is attached to a bakery so the bread should have been very good, but was was mediocre at best. Fried clams on the small side, served with cold fries. Seafood casserole the worse I have ever had: overdone dry fish, slimy scallops and lobster so overcooked it was crunchy. Very disappointing.... My husband and I recently had lunch at Colonel's. I remembered eating the fish chowder last year, and if you are a fan of fish chowder, I would highly recommend this. There is none better. Seriously. It is not some creamy, floury glop. This is elemental. Milky fish broth, chunks of haddock and large broken pieces of earthy potatoes. Served... More

Very loud at the height of breakfast with some screaming kids! But food very good. Try to arrive before 830 am if possible.

We were looking for a place to eat in this small, sleepy town. We found two places. This one had a lot of people walking up to it and few cars. We decided to try it. And we were glad. The restaurant, adjacent to the bakery was jammed. We had to wait about twenty minutes for a table, but it was... More

The food at Colonel's is just above average. Nothing too special, but the homemade bread makes the sandwiches a notch above average. The prices were a bit high, but it did appear that high quality ingredients were used.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is quick and delicious, and the menu is expansive. What more could one ask for? Perhaps a location in the stunning Acadia National Park, just a short walk from the coast?

My family ate here twice; once for a sit down dinner and once for takeout pizza. For our sit down we were a bit concerned when we first walked into the restaurant, there was no one there! It took a few minutes for anyone to notice us but finally we were seated and more people began coming in. Our waitress... More

We have been visiting Maine for 20 years and have always looked forward to enjoying a crab melt for lunch at one of Bar Harbor's restaurants, but this year, to our great disappointment, none of our usual haunts had this item on their menus. On a visit to Northeast Harbor, we were thrilled to see it listed on Colonel's menu,... More

When seated we asked about the bakery pastries - the waitress had just gotten to work and didn't know what was left.. that was the answer. Ordered pancakes - $3.95 extra for real maple syrup - in Maine. The blueberry pancakes were made with frozen/dehydrated blueberries - again - in Maine in August? The breakfast was simply not on par... More

Took the trip thru the beautiful Acadia National Park and got off the loop and went to Northeast Harbor. We came to the town and parked and walked around and found what we thought was a bakery...Surprise, surprise what a GREAT "deli". Started off with fried clams (best we've had in the north east) and Bar Harbor Summer Ale....Then I... More
