Jordan Pond menu in old NE Harbor

TIP: The same people run Asticou's restaurant as run Jordan Pond House: go here if you want popovers during the day, when Jordan Pond is overcrowded. You can sit on the deck overlooking NE Harbor and enjoy old style Mt. Desert Island.

Beautiful old Inn and Restaurant. Heavy fog the evening we ate there, but fortunes of the Maine coast in summer. Excellent service. Menu somewhat more limited than expected, but more than enough choices. Inn now serves popovers, very well made. Meals were fair. My hanger steak was cooked as requested, but very tough. Dessert for us was a shared piece... More

This is the 3rd time we have eaten here. It was the best so far! We like to come for the view and the feeling but this summer the food was decent. Especially the lobster stew. Very delicious! They definitely have a problem with waitstaff. We heard 2 crashes of glasses. The first time only one broke - nearby and... More

The company that managed the Jordan Pond House until last year now runs the Asticou Restaurant at the Asticou Inn. While slightly different (catering a different crowd) the food is very good and the staff attentive. My wife and I had both dinner and lunch there and we were pleased both times. Their seafood chowder was as we remembered. The... More

Lovely spot to sit & relax, but our dining experience in late July was definitely sub-par. Our server seemed quite new to the job, couldn't answer the most basic questions about menu items (ingredients) but did offer to check with the chef. We found no evidence of pistachios in the halibut crust, and unfortunately my entree (salmon) was not done... More

This restaurant is in a lovely old Inn and had an old-time feel to it. We were seated by a window near the outside deck which is raised and overlooks the harbor. The view was pretty but the food was expensive and the quiche was cold in spots which makes me think it was microwaved. The waiter was very busy... More

We ate here twice for lunch. Had their lobster stew both times - a little pricey @ $15.00 a cup, but worth it - especially with the wonderful popovers included. The food and service were very good, and the view is amazing.

Lovely deck was open and efficient service provided by one of the many (we were told) foreign students who are on contract to the hotel. (They seemed tired but we later saw them also hauling luggage up the stairs, so they must multi-talk.) I had the Asticou Salad, very disappointing and expensive for a bit of spinach and maybe a... I've never had worse rack of lamb in my life! overcooked and tough. The oysters on the half shell were also sub-par, and side veggies were bland. Wait staff were very good though and the ambience is worth a visit. I think I would come for a breakfast or lunch though and choose something that can't be botched in the... More
