We stopped here for an appetizer and drinks before we were to go on a cruise. We had the oysters New Orleans . They were delicious.. They were served with a nice bread. The tables around us seemed to be enjoying there meals as well. On the recommendation of the table next to us we ordered the onion rings to... More

The staff and patrons welcome you as one of their own! We met friends at the bar and everyone welcomed us out of Towners so warmly!

We have loved this restaurant in the past, but were sorely disappointed this visit. The wine servings were very small and served in juice glasses, not very classy. I ordered the special tenderloin wrapped in bacon and my wife ordered the salmon. My tenderloin ordered rare came well done and not even charred. The waitress took one look and ordered a... More

We recently had the opportunity to go with our whole family to Newcastle Publick House while on vacation in Mid-Coast Maine. My husband and I had driven by NPH many times while staying in the Damariscotta area a few years back, but had never dined at NPH. After reading all the rave reviews, we decided that we had to try... I was NOT in love with the burger that encased a crab patty. Nope. But the service was great. Place is haunted by a kindly ghost named Myrtle. The cook keeps a pink light bulb on in the kitchen to appease her. That was some interesting local color!

Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The oysters were super fresh and plucked right out of the river that can be seen from the patio or a window seat. I also had a haddock BLT. A sweet twist on a classic sandwich. Delicious!!! Others at the table had burgers and wraps and each was pleased with there dish.... More

Three of us ventured out on a Friday night for a bite and a good draft beer. We called ahead and they said they were full downstairs so try the new pub upstairs. This new room was visibly smokey. The hostess said 'were really busy and this happens when the kitchen grills are busy'. Well too bad for their new... More

We were excited to go the the Publick House because it seemed to have such a charming look to the restaurant on the outside. The food was actually quite good but the service was rather awkward even though the staff was friendly and wanted to help. It was almost as if they were all newly hired and did not have... More

I've been here twice and both times the food has been pretty good. The food does take a while to come, but the wait isn't bad because there are cards and games on the windowsill by the table I've eaten at both times. This past time I ordered mac and cheese along with the Goddess pizza and split both in... More

…and when this restaurant serves them, they taste like they were pulled from the river just for you. Along with the horseradish, a lovely lemony topping is served--just the right thing to start off a great meal, along with a couple of their signature cocktails (I had the White Cosmopolitan). I was eating light that night and had the crab... More
