The food was quite good, not out of this world, but very good. We had a party of 10 which they were happy to accommodate. If you are going to eat here, I highly recommend eating in the bar - great atmosphere! The staff was very friendly. The fried scallops that were one of the specials were outstanding. Two people... This past weekend I went to the Publick House with family. It was busy but wait attendant came immediately. The menu was pleasantly eclectic, I could not decided since there were several items I wanted to try. After inquiring what the Maine burger was I thought I would try it. Results.....delicious beef patty with creamy, crab cake inside and two... More

I intentionally chose a hike in the area, just so I could go to lunch at the Newcastle Pub after. As a woman out on her own, it is nice to be able to go into a restaurant and not feel awkward. The host let me chose my table. The waitress encouraged me to stay and read my book, long... More

Having seen the the mixed reviews, I was surprised to see a smoker at the rear of the building, a good sign. Somebody is spending some time on the product. The place is a tavern, simple and true. We sat at the bar and ordered pulled pork nachos and a blackened haddock sandwich. We were treated well and the service... More

Enjoy the shredded roast pork nachos. The wine list is nice, but I (not a beer drinker) hear that the beer selection is a winner.

Took my wife and son we were disappointed with the food. I enjoyed the fries but there's no salt or pepper at the table. Bring your own steak sauce as they don't have any, and they sell steaks! Not a place for me.

Eat there often. Mostly at the bar. Great pizza (crispy crust style) and pork nachos. Great beer selection and friendly bartenders. Highly recommended.

Passing through Newcastle around lunchtime, we stopped in to eat. Great choice! Sat in the comfortable pub to enjoy a local brew and a gigantic lobster roll - loved them both. Service was good during a busy time, and the facility was clean & comfortable. We'd have a hard time driving by without stopping again.

We had dinner there and it was a disaster. We sat down and initially the waitress was timely. We ordered our food and waited and waited. I ordered a cup of Haddock soup and a Reuben and my wife ordered the haddock in beer batter. Nothing out of the ordinary for a Pub. However two parties came in five minutes... More

My husband and I stopped in for lunch today. I had the halibut tacos with lettuce, salsa and delicious crema. The fish was so fresh and the tacos were truly amazing. My husband had Scottish salmon on a Caesar salad and it too, was absolutely wonderful. The salmon almost melted in your mouth. We are looking forward to going there... More
