Don't get thrown off by the decor. The decor is sort of generic roadside restaurant. The food, however, is exceptional. Transfer this quality of food to an upscale restaurant in Manhattan, and you would be impressed. We ate here 5-6 times, and each time we were impressed with the quality of the food.

Been to restaurant 3 times. 1st time the hostess apologized at least 10 times for the extremely slow/poor service food was good so we chalked it up to being early in the season. 2nd time again poor service- once seated we had to wait for menus as they evidently did not have enough and we had to wait for other... I visited this restaurant with family recently and have nothing good to say. The restaurant was dirty, the decor was incredibly outdated, and the food was AWFUL and way over-priced! Their cheeseburgers arrive swimming in a puddle of grease, not edible! The baked stuffed haddock tasted like salt, they advertise the stuffing as having crab and shrimp in it, all... More

I don't recommend trying this place. My family and I tried it for the first time and we were sorry we did. The atmosphere was tacky, outdated, and uncomfortable. The service left much to be desired, the staff seemed like they really didn't want to be there, not that I could blame them. We each ordered different items and none... More

Tried this place for the first and last time. Service was pretty bad... Food was just plain awful. We were bombarded by flies during the entire meal. Did I mention the food was terrible? Over-priced, over-seasoned, almost completely inedible. I have never felt as nauseous after eating out as I did after eating here. Avoid this place at all costs,... More

After a week long trip to the beautiful state of Maine, we decided to try the Village Side Restaurant and it was a total disappointment. The staff seemed pleasant enough they just appeared to have no idea what they were doing I felt sympathy due to the lack of direction being provided. Then after a long wait for some simple... More

My 82 year old mother had seen the new color ad in the Portland paper, so, on our way back from Bridgton, we stopped in for the early bird specials. The menu was varied, but since I was "from away," I had to get lobster. We started with raspberry ice tea, which really hit the spot. Then we shared the... More
