Great sunset lobster dinner

We loved the atmosphere of this place. This is a perfect place to watch the sunset over the harbor while eating great lobster at a picnic table outside. The mosquitos do come out once the sun has set so bring bug spray and cover up! The staff is really friendly and well trained! A great family... read more

Abel's is the kind of place I almost hate to review because it seems to be off the tourist radar. We found it more or less by accident - there's an obvious sign on the highway, but there are dozens, maybe hundreds, of similar signs for other places in this part of the world. But it was such a great... More

This is an easy drive from Bar Harbor and hidden away (although not hard to find). It doesn't have a touristy feel. There is a lovely harbor view and we sat at a bar outside with nothing between us and the view. The inside of the restaurant looked great too and sits up higher. The lobster was delicious as were... Best lobster we had while vacationing in Bar Harbor and the location on Somes Sound is breathtaking! My husband dropped his phone outside but didn't realize until we were back at our hotel. We called Abel's but no one had turned it in. One of their servers looked for it and found it! They called us and we rushed right... More

Sitting outside on the water is a really great way to dine, the staff was pleasant, especially the guy who let my son hold one of the lobsters. That was a highlight for him. However, my $15 drink tasted like they forgot the alcohol (no, really, and for $15 I expect to know there's alcohol in it), the corn on... More

Had 1.2 pound lobster that costs $28. Also had Lobster stew and lobster salad. Total cost was over $100 pretty tip. It certainly was fresh and the view was fantastic but not sure it was worth the expensive lunch for 2 people.

What a fun experience for our family! Kids were able to look at the lobsters and even hold them. Food was delicous and tasted very fresh (the boats are right next to the restaurant) and it was nice that there was a kids option (chicken finger plate - about $10). This is more expensive than some of the pounds were... More

We stumbled upon Abel's while driving around MDI and were fortune enough to get an outside table without a reservation at 5:30 on a gorgeous afternoon. Our waitress, Lily, was attentive and made sure we had a wonderful experience. The steamed clams & lobster were perfectly cooked. Also, the lobster was cut and drained prior to bringing it to the... Hit for quick lunch on way to airport. Our server was attentive and actually ran several times from our picnic table to get what was needed from inside. Excellent lobster rolls (but not on traditional hot dog roll). Excellent steamers. SKIP the lobster stew - tasteless. Homemade potato chips that 3 out of 4 of us enjoyed.
