Lobster Ceasar Salad and Blueberry draft beer made a delicious lunch in beautiful setting with very pleasant servers. Family operation.

The one disappointing meal on Mount Desert Island. Abel's was pricier than Thurston's or Cafe Dry Dock, but not as good. In fact, it was about the most expensive meal we had and I couldn't understand why. We ate there at night and the atmosphere was OK, the service neither good nor bad, the lobster OK. Unlike other places on... More

Abel's has long been our favorite place for lobsters on Mt Desert Island. It has a beautiful view of Somes Sound, and consistently perfect lobsters and steamers. As other reviewers point out, it is not the cheapest place on the Island. But if you enjoy good food and atmosphere, it provides great value. Somes Sound is one of the most... More

It was very expensive and not worth it at all. We wanted cheap lobsters and these were not a deal at all. You eat outside on the water and Mosquitos were terrible. We got appetizers but decided to go to Beals for dinner.

The food was fine, but it is tough to wreck steamers and a lobster. We live in the area and wanted to see what it was like since we have driven by it for years. Way too expensive, especially considering that fisherman are getting $2/lb and a 1lb lobster costs $35 here. Had steamers, lobster and salad. My wife had... More

We had dinner at Abel's on 8/21/13 and it was absolutely the worst and most expensive overpriced lobster dinner I've ever had. The lobster was dry and reminiscent of tough sawdust; way overcooked. The "sweet corn" served with it was also overcooked, tough and with no discernible sugar content and it reminded me of the feed corn we used to... More

Great views and even better food. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth it. Make sure you get the lobster roll. It isn't the cheapest, but there was at least an entire lobster etween the bun.

We do not like to be critical, but we were disappointed. The waitress was very nice, but the kitchen let her down. The lobster was dry and way over cooked. We had a fine lobster in Boothbay last night and expected the same tonight. Unfortunately, there was no comparison. We think that they boiled the lobsters tonight, rather than steamed... More

We came for an early dinner on a gorgeous late afternoon. The setting is most pleasant overlooking a bay. The lobster is super fresh and the side dishes (eg cole slaw and corn on the cob) complemented the lobster very well. I would not call Abels cheap but it provides value for money. This meal was one of the highlights... More
