Abel's lobster pound is an awesome place to eat. The view is about as good as there is on the island. It's is well worth it to break away from the tourist trappy feel of bar harbor to come here for a meal. The steamers were the best ever experienced. Their interpretation of the lobster roll is interesting. It is... More

Abel's is not cheep, but dining out under the Red Pines as you watch the sun set over Somes Sound is worth the price. Perhaps i am influenced by the ambience, but I swear that the lobsters are the tastiest on the island

In 2005 we had a meal at Abel's and loved every minute of it. We were treated like family and never forgot what a fabulous meal we had also. In August of 2014 we rode by Abel's and my husband and I both said "that's the place." So we stopped and had another fabulous dinner with excellent service. Wish we... More

Eventhough their menu does not have a wide variety , they have the best lobster ever. Great blueberry pie and great service. We have been twice there when we anchored in Somes Sound and we will go back with some friends. Eventhough the outdoor eating area is VERY inviting avoid it at night, the mosquitos will eat you alive.

Able's is a distinctive lobster pound and a little more upscale that the others available in the area. Table service outdoors is beautiful. Lobster is good. We would definitely go back.

Sat outside, had lobster rolls and blueberry ale for lunch with a gentle breeze. Great service for our party of 10--we all left full and happy. If there is a heaven, this is pretty much it for me.

This place was recommended by a friend, so we were expecting something decent. For our party of 4, we had one beer each, 2 orders of lazy lobster ($33 ea), 1 order of bow tie pasta fettuchine with lobster ($33), and 1 order of the large lobster steamed dinner ($35). For this price, we were shocked that salads were a... More

i know Abel's is famous for its sauteed lobster but I prefer the lobster salad - a generous helping of lobster that could be a lobster roll but wouldn't fit. And don't turn down the wonderful blueberry pie.

Abels is a charming spot nestled in the pine trees north of Northeast Harbor. Clearly, its customers have been coming back since they came here with their parents or grandparents. I like sitting inside better than outside on a cool night, but it does get a little noisy at times. The lobster dishes are great, but there is a fairly... More

We ate at Abel's just last evening to celebrate my parent-in-law's 50th anniversary. You must have a reservation. It is very busy. Before we went inside, we walked to the lobster area. The young men let us hold a lobster and showed us how they prepare them. Very entertaining. The dinner was delicious and we we easily able to navigate... More
