When we opened Robert’s in June 2006, we had a certain idea: we could do a version of the big Maine seafood restaurant that was rooted in the tradition of these places, but also inspired by up-to-date food trends like local farm-to-table ingredients and more creative recipes. Owner Michael Landgarten had long been a fan, patron, and student of these large all-purpose (seafood-centric but not exclusively seafood) Maine restaurants.Traditionally, coastal Maine seafood restaurants focus on a large, seafood-centered menu featuring steamed lobster, baked and fried seafood, steaks, burgers, and have a bar, and usually some outside dining. We liked this notion for Robert’s, but wanted it to be a “now” experience – about the best of Maine food. In the Midcoast region, the farm-to-table movement had started long before there was that name for it. Back-to-the landers there started restaurants that sourced directly from local fisherman and farmers. We’re still searching for that ideal blend of traditional Maine, farm-to-table, and what’s best and real in new cuisine. Mostly though, we are guided by our purpose – to make guests happy!

Lobster Roll!

Great atmosphere, lots of Maine decor. Convenient to all the outlet shops, if you like! Probably lots of traffic in the summer. Seating on two levels. Very good, friendly service. Food arrived promptly. The crackers w/seasoned butter was delicious and when we asked for a few more crackers, she... read more

We are in Maine visiting friends. My friend suggested that the three of us should have lunch at Robert's Maine Grill. My friend has the lobster roll and chowder with a side of onion rings, my wife had the fish chowder and a side of onion rings and I had the crab and avocado sandwich. Both my wife's and my... More

We use the freshest locally sourced ingredients we can find, which does ad a bit to the price. I am certainly disappointed that you felt the items you ordered were not worth what you paid. While, I wish your visit had been more positive for you, we appreciate your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to write your review. More

We had lunch twice at this restaurant. Both times we really enjoyed it. Service was professional, fast and efficient, and food was very good. We ordered Tableside Clambake for Two. Actually, after the first experience last year we came back last week for the pot of lobsters, mussels, steamers and kielbasa for two. The meal was good and satisfying. This... More

We stopped here for lunch because of the reviews. We ordered sandwiches. It cost approximate $15. A sandwich with side of fries. If you substitute the fries you paC sides were not worth the extra $$ to sub. Then we started eating, once again OMG... It was simply delicious and totally filling. It was fresh, tasty and surprisingly more than... More

I visited this restaurant yesterday at lunch time. They offer a fried haddock sandwich with lettuce and smoked paprika aiole. It was so very delicious!! On Tuesday and Wednesday evening they have a community supper. For $14.00 per person they offer a salad, a chicken breast with sides, and blueberry crumble cake! This menu changes each week. We had our Sunday lunch at Robert's after reading so much about the restaurant in Downeast Magazine and the TA recommendations. It is situated on Rte 1 in Kittery, but it has lovely water views and the new construction and decor make for a really nice atmosphere. The hostess and waitstaff couldn't have been more solicitous and professional. Top marks... More
