When we opened Robert’s in June 2006, we had a certain idea: we could do a version of the big Maine seafood restaurant that was rooted in the tradition of these places, but also inspired by up-to-date food trends like local farm-to-table ingredients and more creative recipes. Owner Michael Landgarten had long been a fan, patron, and student of these large all-purpose (seafood-centric but not exclusively seafood) Maine restaurants.Traditionally, coastal Maine seafood restaurants focus on a large, seafood-centered menu featuring steamed lobster, baked and fried seafood, steaks, burgers, and have a bar, and usually some outside dining. We liked this notion for Robert’s, but wanted it to be a “now” experience – about the best of Maine food. In the Midcoast region, the farm-to-table movement had started long before there was that name for it. Back-to-the landers there started restaurants that sourced directly from local fisherman and farmers. We’re still searching for that ideal blend of traditional Maine, farm-to-table, and what’s best and real in new cuisine. Mostly though, we are guided by our purpose – to make guests happy!

Okok. You have to eat somewhere when you are outlet shopping on Kittery. So, TripAdvisor says number three restaurant in town. Popular vote aside,, this is plain old average stuff. We had fish and chips, turkey sandwich on cranberry bread and a cup of kale soup. Fifty bucks! (Coffee and ice tea). We chose the less Expensive menu items. I... More

It seems I'm not alone in describing this as nice. That's just it - it's "nice". Clean. Good service. Good food. Good location close to the outlets. It's certainly a place we would visit again, but it's not an over-the-top-wow-this-is-amazing kind of place. It's good. And nice.

The fried cheese tasted like fried calamari and clams, which would have been fine if I wasn't allergic to shellfish. I have been here dozens of times and never had a problem until today.

We take all allergies very seriously when they are brought to our attention. I am certainly disappointed that you were not happy during your last visit. We would have loved the opportunity in the moment to try and rectify it for you. While, I wish it had been more positive for you, it is feedback like this that we learn... More

They are known for their fresh seafood, but since I'm not a lover of fish, I had the chicken stew which was very good. My husband's baked haddock was good and all in all it was a nice dinner.

Great atmosphere, lots of Maine decor. Convenient to all the outlet shops, if you like! Probably lots of traffic in the summer. Seating on two levels. Very good, friendly service. Food arrived promptly. The crackers w/seasoned butter was delicious and when we asked for a few more crackers, she brought a fresh plate - nice touch. Kind of pricey, though.... More

We had lunch twice at this restaurant. Both times we really enjoyed it. Service was professional, fast and efficient, and food was very good. We ordered Tableside Clambake for Two.
