When we opened Robert’s in June 2006, we had a certain idea: we could do a version of the big Maine seafood restaurant that was rooted in the tradition of these places, but also inspired by up-to-date food trends like local farm-to-table ingredients and more creative recipes. Owner Michael Landgarten had long been a fan, patron, and student of these large all-purpose (seafood-centric but not exclusively seafood) Maine restaurants.Traditionally, coastal Maine seafood restaurants focus on a large, seafood-centered menu featuring steamed lobster, baked and fried seafood, steaks, burgers, and have a bar, and usually some outside dining. We liked this notion for Robert’s, but wanted it to be a “now” experience – about the best of Maine food. In the Midcoast region, the farm-to-table movement had started long before there was that name for it. Back-to-the landers there started restaurants that sourced directly from local fisherman and farmers. We’re still searching for that ideal blend of traditional Maine, farm-to-table, and what’s best and real in new cuisine. Mostly though, we are guided by our purpose – to make guests happy!

Roberto's Maine Grill has a nice variety of sea food. The crab cakes were my favorite appetizer and the spice lobster and mussel spaghetti was pretty good as a main dish.

Before we had lunch here, food was good, service was good too., but this Jan.5.2016, after the dinner we weren't thrilled at all, the service is still good. But the food has like no flavor, the clam chowder was ok, it's almost taste like a chowder from a can. I hope it wasn't but taste like it. The casserole was... More

We were not sure what to expect, parking was a bit tough so that was a good sign. The inside was understated and elegant. The bartender was very personable and efficient, there are bill boards above the bar with Maine-isms that had us giggling....but the best part was that the drinks, a specialty cocktail and an unusual artisan beer were... Have been here many times, tough to park, but they have a free valet service. Seafood is fresh and very tasty, have had the lobster roll, clam chowder and haddock in the past- never disappointed. Today had the Saturday special, a fried haddock sandwich with homemade tartar sauce, delicious. My wife had the Moxie/Bourbon marinated steak tips- also very good.... More

I was determined to eat lobster in Maine on my New England road trip and I could not have picked a better place. There was a heated upstairs deck which had an amazing view. The lobster was amazing. And the waitress was phenomenal! She was super nice and thought me how to eat a lobster which was quite difficult.

A wonderful place for seafood overlooking the marsh. In the summer months ask for a table on the deck. Great clam chowder and the haddock sandwich is large enough for 2. Nice bar seating also.

We heard about Roberts from some locals in Portsmouth, NH. We ate lunch there on a Sunday and returned again on Monday. It's about an hour and a half drive for us but we will often make a trip over to the outlet center just to provide an opportunity to stop in Roberts. The food has always been wonderful. The service at the bar ranks right up there with the best we ever encountered.
