When we opened Robert’s in June 2006, we had a certain idea: we could do a version of the big Maine seafood restaurant that was rooted in the tradition of these places, but also inspired by up-to-date food trends like local farm-to-table ingredients and more creative recipes. Owner Michael Landgarten had long been a fan, patron, and student of these large all-purpose (seafood-centric but not exclusively seafood) Maine restaurants.Traditionally, coastal Maine seafood restaurants focus on a large, seafood-centered menu featuring steamed lobster, baked and fried seafood, steaks, burgers, and have a bar, and usually some outside dining. We liked this notion for Robert’s, but wanted it to be a “now” experience – about the best of Maine food. In the Midcoast region, the farm-to-table movement had started long before there was that name for it. Back-to-the landers there started restaurants that sourced directly from local fisherman and farmers. We’re still searching for that ideal blend of traditional Maine, farm-to-table, and what’s best and real in new cuisine. Mostly though, we are guided by our purpose – to make guests happy!

Robert's has been my #1 priority when I visit the area annually. While Bob's was always a staple for fried clams, the addition of the upscale version has been awesome! It is not only about the amazing food, it is also the emotions that makes Roberts great! Today a nice old cuple; She: Honey, do you want to stay near me to enjoy this beautiful view? He: No... you are the most beautiful thing I can see right now! I simply melted! :)

After long day of outlet shopping it was nice to get away from the stores and have some appetizers and cold beer. Also had a great deck upstairs overlooking river, will return for dinner.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon after a lovely boat tour from Kittery on the Piscataqua River. The ""long sands" special included an extra large lobster roll and a cup of chowder. Lobster was excellent and the price was very reasonable. Service was friendly and quick. Will return soon!

Food was very good but loud children and adults made for only fair atmosphere. The new restaurant style seems to utilize only hard surfaces with nothing to attenuate the noise of inconsiderate people or unruly children. Nearly $90 for a meal, you can’t hear your dining companion and the free range children need to be curbed.

We traveled from CT to find a great seafood place and it was here. The jumbo lobster roll is enormous and the steamed mussels with broth is out of this world. I could have eaten 5 lbs or mussels omg. Definitely a great place to eat

I had eaten at Robert's last year so it wasn't a surprise that the food and service was very good. The food isn't gourmet but for what it is it is very good. Sit upstairs and get a view of the water. Service was efficient and the prices are in the moderate to expensive range for lunch. The only drawback... More

Best steak and seafood. Perfect service and good price! We were 3 adults and we took a appetizer to shear 2 glasses of wine plus main course 100$ Now that's a deal!
