Established in 1956 on busy Route One long before that stretch became bustling and busy with Kittery's outlet shops, Bob’s was the locals' golden fried standard. Now Bob's is a favorite spot for locals and travelers alike. We hear it from our guests: no trip to Maine is complete without a meal at Bob's Clam Hut.Bob's is committed to serving traditional Maine fried seafood with straightforward simplicity. Our clams are always fresh, which means daily deliveries--we're too small to store more than that anyway. We use "specials," which are clams hand-selected for consistent size and quality. We follow the original Bob's recipes, including the famous tartar sauce. Customer favorites include Bob's New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Stew, the traditional Bob's fried clams, and the Lillian fried clams. The volume of fryolator oil we go through amazes our suppliers--our oil cleanliness standards are second to none. Our staff uses the same cook-to-order system that Bob and his family developed way back when the Clam Hut first opened.Open for lunch and dinner year round from 11:00.

Well Worth the Drive

Bob's Clam Hut was well worth the drive up from Portsmouth, NH. The food was well cooked and tasty with huge portions and we left stuffed. Fast friendly service and parking attendants helped make this a great overall experience.

We stopped here after a visit to Kittery Trading Post. We ordered clam chowder and fried clams the service was fast with little wait time. The chowder was nothing more than warm milk with some clams and potatoes thrown into it. Not creamy at all. The clams were pretty average with small bellies. I think this place is so popular... Open year round, unlike many other seafood shacks along Maine's coast, Bob's Clam Hut provides those with a hankering for fried food the perfect excuse to stop. The menu is varied, from clams to fish, with essentially the lobster roll the only entree that isn't fried to perfection. Their batter can be a bit thick, adding not only weight to... More

We found this place driving by and turned around as it looked like a busy place which usually to us means good food:). You can eat inside or outside on picnic tables. You order from a window and pickup your food from another window. My husband loved the lobster roll and said it was one of the best he has... More

Very consistent a local originally took me here and I go back whenever I'm in the Ares. Always a good fresh lobster roll.

Was at the Kittery Trading post and at the check out line I asked the employees where is a good spot to get dinner. Everyone said "Bob's", which was within walking distance of the shop. I was not disappointed. I ordered the clam dinner, and my boyfriend had the fish dinner. The people were super friendly (they were very busy).... More

Ever since seeing this place on the show diner drive ins and dives, we've had to go each trip to Maine. The clam strips are tender on the inside with a nice light coating that is crisp on the outside. My husband gets this huge lobster roll and thinks it is the best. I love the cole slaw and my... On a road trip up through Maine one day from Salem, MA, and decided to find a place that did lobster rolls, and boy, do they do lobster rolls! Delicious, filling, perfectly priced, and wash it down with the apple cider they serve and you're set! One of the most memorable meals of that trip, and definitely plan on returning!

Second time to Bob's and I think it was even better than the first. We enjoyed fried clams and lobster rolls, as well as onion rings. DELICIOUS! Clams sweet, lobster roll with just a touch of mayo mixed with large chunks of lobster on a grilled roll, and non-greasy, very tasty onion rings. We ate outside, as the weather was... More

If you want authentic seafood but don't want the drive down east, then this is the spot for you. Good food, prices about average for seafood, and quick service Plus you can combine your food stop with some retail therapy since you'll be in Kittery, the heart of outlet land.
