Description: Established in 1956 on busy Route One long before that stretch became bustling and busy with Kittery's outlet shops, Bob’s was the locals' golden fried standard. Now Bob's is a favorite spot for locals and travelers alike. We hear it from our guests: no trip to Maine is complete without a meal at Bob's Clam Hut.Bob's is committed to serving traditional Maine fried seafood with straightforward simplicity. Our clams are always fresh, which means daily deliveries--we're too small to store more than that anyway. We use "specials," which are clams hand-selected for consistent size and quality. We follow the original Bob's recipes, including the famous tartar sauce. Customer favorites include Bob's New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Stew, the traditional Bob's fried clams, and the Lillian fried clams. The volume of fryolator oil we go through amazes our suppliers--our oil cleanliness standards are second to none. Our staff uses the same cook-to-order system that Bob and his family developed way back when the Clam Hut first opened.Open for lunch and dinner year round from 11:00.

Portion size is small for the price. They have a fast turnover and plenty of seating areas. Food was passé. There is an interesting mural and colorful decorations but we were not happy with the food. One time only experience.

We don't get here often but every time we do, we're glad we did. The first telling thing is when you arrive on the property the smell of grease and seafood is nowhere to be found. It means the seafood is fresh and being fried properly. The whole belly clams are to die for. Crunchy, sweet, not greasy, and very... More

On our recent visit here I thought the fried clams were not quite as good as I remembered but my husband thought they were fine. They were tender and not greasy but maybe not as sweet and flavorful as I have had here in the past. The service is good, relatively quick even tho' it was fairly busy. There is... More

This is a one try experience. The food was just okay, but the walk up open air ordering and pick up area was something to experience. The Lobster roll wasn't the best. It was my first every, so it wasn't until later in this trip I found many that were much better and less expensive. This place gets really crowded... More

We have visited this restaurant twice in two years. The food was fine last year yet we found the quality has deteriorated since then. Our $30 pint of fried clams was nearly indelible. The clams were very large and chewy, resembling deep fried rubber bands. We were unable to eat nearly one- third of the clams. Husband described his lobster... More

I have been there twice and probably won't go again. The portions for the money simply aren't worth it anymore. The full belly fried clams are delicious but just too expensive. Same with the fried oysters. Too bad.

We always stop here for lunch on our way to Maine. Even when it's crowded you can usually get your order fairy quickly. Lobster roll is great, and seafood is always fresh. Ice cream is delicious too - we had blueberry basil one our last visit. You cannot ask more from a roadside clam hut. We've never been disappointed here,... More

Stopped for lunch... overpriced for portions. One of our meals came with about 6 french fries while another had tons. Sitting in front is great if you like traffic about 6 feet away from you. And... one in our party of 4 ordered clam chowder. The potatoes were hard which should have been an indication to skip it. Instead I... More

Bob's is the first place I stop at when entering Maine on Rte. 1 and I try to make it the last place I stop at when leaving this wonderful State. And I've never been disappointed, however I will say I've only ever ordered the clams and lobster roll. I just can't get passed them to want to try anything... More
