Established in 1956 on busy Route One long before that stretch became bustling and busy with Kittery's outlet shops, Bob’s was the locals' golden fried standard. Now Bob's is a favorite spot for locals and travelers alike. We hear it from our guests: no trip to Maine is complete without a meal at Bob's Clam Hut.Bob's is committed to serving traditional Maine fried seafood with straightforward simplicity. Our clams are always fresh, which means daily deliveries--we're too small to store more than that anyway. We use "specials," which are clams hand-selected for consistent size and quality. We follow the original Bob's recipes, including the famous tartar sauce. Customer favorites include Bob's New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Stew, the traditional Bob's fried clams, and the Lillian fried clams. The volume of fryolator oil we go through amazes our suppliers--our oil cleanliness standards are second to none. Our staff uses the same cook-to-order system that Bob and his family developed way back when the Clam Hut first opened.Open for lunch and dinner year round from 11:00.

Best fried seafood I have ever had.

I live in Maine. I have been eating fried seafood all my life. You can find bigger portions other places if that is what you are into, but you will not find better fried haddock, clams, scollops or shrimp anywhere. Wife and I have eaten here dozens of times over the years since there close to the Kittery outlet stores, The clams are good but not the best I have eaten, the haddock is very good. The service is excellent, you order your own food and take it to your table. The place is very clean overall, during the summer... More

In the interest of full disclosure, before today, I had never had a lobster roll, so my point of comparison is nil. Please forgive me though...I have a good explanation....I spent my life thinking I was allergic to shellfish...until today. As it turns out, I'm allergic to anything other than fresh, preservative-free shellfish. Sans sulfur-wash, I'm a footloose, fancy-free crustacean... More

Small portions, compared to other local seafood places. Overpriced. Fun atmosphere with all the tourists. Better value down the road at The Weathervane. Very popular because of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives visiting them.

Enjoyed one of Maine's iconic restaurants the other day and reminded ourselves that it is an amazing place throughout the year - crowded or not. Snow piled up where the summer picnic tables attract larger crowds. But enough about the place and space: the clams and onion rings, my favorites, are as good as ever. Check out the basket special... Best clams I have EVER had.......EVER! OMG! We were a party of 43 of us got clams and 1 got lobster roll. None of us could even speak....we were "moaning" through our entire meal......it was that good! I cannot wait to go back! We have really good seafood in the Carolinas but nothing as good as Bob's.....period!

Great fried everything, clams in particular. Wonderful lobster rolls, and the onion rings are killer.

I've been going here since it was a little kid with my parents in the 1960's back when it really was just a hut. The clams, scallops, lobster rolls and fried haddock are spectacular. Don't let the lofty prices or the picnic table style deter you, good seafood isn't cheap and that's how the best seafood is served in Maine.... More

I don't know what they do to the clams but boy are they good. Some of the best ever. Nothing fancy but they get the job done. Friendly staff, great food, clean atmosphere, what more can you ask for. Portions are good sized. Staff are continuously cleaning and pick up dining area. If you love seafood I can't think of... More

Bob's Clam Hut is a must stop! Don't mind the line up it's well worth it. The fried clams are the best we ever tasted and of good value. Add the stop for lunch or dinner after hitting the outlet malls.
