Taking an early spring vacation in Southern Maine, I ate here twice within a week. The Fire Fly Diner is located in the Pine Tree Plaza on Route 1 north of the outlets. The first impression was of a neat, orderly place. All the setups on the tables and booths were lined up just so. The place was also quite... More

Got a perfectly prepared egg, over-easy; crunchy, buttered toast; home fries of just the right texture; and a side of flavorful hash. Everything was tasty--a perfect mid-day breakfast. The tea wasn't the best. The staff was friendly and efficient--attentive but not hovering. A final note--the bathroom was very clean and had a good locking door (not always the case in... More

When you walk into the Fire Fly Dinner, you will quickly realize that you are not in cookie-cutter chain with fancy booths, carpeting on the floor and fancy décor. Friends, this is the real deal – a neighborhood “Mainer” restaurant where the locals in-the-know eat. Not much different than what you might have found back in 1955, before Maine got... More

Food was okay.....but we were SO frustrated by the time we got it, that it ruined the whole experience. We were told that they were "short a cook", but after reading some of the other reviews, I am thinking that was just an excuse? If you are in a hurry to go shopping....don't stop here!

The food was ok, my order was wrong, the waitress was friendly, but we waited over an hour for our breakfast! Not worth it!

After driving for a while we were hungy and this happened to be on the way. When we stopped the sign said cash only, ATM next door at gas station, not a huge deal but just a heads up unless you bank waives ATM fee's or you happen to be the few who still carry cash (more than $20) add... More

A little hole in the wall for breakfast, privately run, trying really hard. We enjoyed everyone's efforts and the meal was good....

We stopped for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. There were only 5 tables of diners, and after waiting 30 minutes, two of those tables, including ours had not been served. We inquired about how much longer it would be, and were told that the cook had not started on lobster roll and cheeseburger yet. So we paid for... More

We decided to try the Fire Fly because a friend recommended it. The diner was practically empty for a Sunday morning, which should have been our first clue. We were greeted immediately, but we waited a fair amount time to place our order and unreasonable amount of time for the food to arrive, especially since they were empty. My friend... More

My boyfriend and I were starving and stopped in on the way to Portland, ME. It's a no frills diner and weren't expecting much. I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and cheese grits. My boyfriend had eggs over medium, bacon, toast and one banana pancake. The server was really friendly and called everybody "honey" or "sweetheart." She did warn me... More
