Hearty local eats

If you can get a table you will enjoy the friendly staff and the hearty food. They actually have/ had deep fried lobster on their menu. Plan ahead because tables are hard to come by and be careful of on-street parking; my car was actually hit while parked out front.

We have been to The Wayfarer several times over the past 20 years or so, and we always enjoy our dinners there. We weren't that hungry so we passed on the pot roast special and ordered a group of salads and appetizers. The chowder and the stovepipe salad were excellent. The lobster cakes were good but there wasn't a big... More

Great service, great food, great location! What else is there to say? We loved it so much that we visited for lunch one day, dinner the next. BYOB is a nice perk, too. Good value for the money and the location. Friendly staff made us feel like we were locals!

This local favorite has been there for years, and through several owners and chefs. Our first nite I had the haddock (baked in a ramekin) and my wife had the salmon. Both were very good, but not spectacular. Stopped by for lunch the following day: my haddock sandwich was delic and my wife loved her burger, but I thought it... More

Great breakfast place. It was very busy on a Sunday morning. It appears to be a place for locals and folks who have a second home in the area. The restaurant is small but updated with a very stylish interior with nautical stuff on the walls, more like artwork rather than clutter. I'm not sure how you can differentiate yourself... More

Charming, unpretentious, friendly, and great food. We tried lunch and dinner at the charming, authentic, spot. The chef does some Southern twists on New England favorites. I had fish and chips twice, as it was melt in your mouth great. For dinner, do not miss the sweet and sour Brussels sprouts, and the fried green tomatoes. Bert, and everyone who... More

My husband and I sloshed in during a rainstorm, and from the second we walked in, lovely Bertie treated us like we were family. The atmosphere is casual and in good taste. The menu is varied, a few great seafood choices, with other well-executed choices if you'd like something else. My husband commented the salmon is the best he's ever... More

A friendly welcome to good home cooking; the chef lives over the road Fish and chips (fries) almost as good as in England (where they know about the importance of fresh fish and crispy batter!) Worth the short journey from Kennebunkport

The food is excellent at this restaurant, and the service was great as well. They are BYOB so you can bring your own bottle of wine which I liked. We would definitely go back there again and probably will when we return in May for Memorial Day weekend. Also, cute little country stores nearby as well as a pretty New... More

We dined here with friends and had a wonderful time. We each ordered something different and each meal was very good. We enjoyed the fact that the restaurant is BYOB. The staff was friendly and efficient.
