We recently had dinner at the White Barn Inn to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. We had been there about 10 years ago and remembered a superb meal. However, our most recent meal was extraordinary. There were four courses plus three extra mini courses. Each was exceptional. I had the seared foie gras to start; my husband had the beef... More

like another reviewer this used to be a favorite and special dining experience. We came two years ago and had a bad service experience along with the same menu as the year before. I didnt want to post a bad review so i wrote to the hotel to let them know. They very nicely responded and sent us a gift... More

This was to be the highlight meal of our trip; unfortunately we were disappointed. Our own doing I guess based on the expectations set. The meal was clearly expensive at a $109/pp tasting menu. Service was great. I think the menu needs an update but probably is fantastic for the regular crowd. Food and ambiance remind me of an "upscale... More

The servers were not only gracious and solicitous to our requests, but also light hearted and fun. I am a sometimes vegan. The chef accommodated my requests for dairy-free. And when I ordered a rich chocolate dessert (with dairy) there was simply good-hearted comments - no judgments! The food was creative and delicious, as was the wine. This restaurant was... More

This restaurant lives up to the high standards of Relais y Chateaux venues. Terrific service, imaginative food and a good and varied wine list. Lovely setting also. Just be prepared for the pris fixe menu and then the cost wont be a surprise. And, be sure that men have a jacket.

Simply one of the best restaurants in Maine. Food: we selected their 3-course degustation, which turns out to be 5-6 course menu once you factor in all the additional dishes they offer e.g., 2 additional servings of desserts such as cookies and a platter of smaller cakes!. We're glad we did not select the 6 course degustation menu! The mise-en-bouche... More

The food was lovely but it was a pre- fix four course meal. The cost was $109 per person. The portions are small but elegantly done. However, it wasn't fabulous. The entree was a lazy lobster sitting on a bed of linguini which was superb! The dessert was a coconut cheese cake which wasn't the greatest. Honestly, we had lunch... More

PRO: Romantic, amazing service, onion soup, white asparagus lobster soup, black pepper sorbet, tenderloin with wine sauce CON: High priced but worth it Our July 2014 visit to the beautiful, rustic, White Barn Inn restaurant was outstanding. The restaurant is housed in a rustic, but beautifully decorated old farm house with well-tailored grounds. Service is amazing. Mention a member of... More

We were on vacation in Kennebunkport during our 20th anniversary and decided to splurge on a special night out. The White Barn Inn seemed to fit the bill. We took the 9 course tasting menu, with wine service and expected to be wowed. The setting was romantic and pretty, and service was very nice, although the couple next to us... More
