We were out to celebrate an anniversary with our adult son and were prepared to do a soup to nuts meal with cocktails. Expecting portions to be on the small side, we all ordered starters and entrees along with drinks. Well, this is the first time my family all brought home half of their entrees! My husband and son rarely... More

My wife and I went to Local 50 on a Tuesday evening which is the $2 tapas night. Once we viewed the menu, our plans changed. We did get one tapas but then ordered off the regular menu. The highlight was the Lobster Stew which was simply superb. We both got a drink as well as an entree salad and... More

Love the cocktails and tapas treats. It was nice to have such a great selection of "small bites" to have with our drinks. The atmosphere is a little noisy and the prices are a little high, but if you choose well, you can be completely satisfied with the tapas and a small entree or split an entree. Kind of a... More

I love the food and the atmosphere. The menu changes with the seasons and is always fresh. We have returned there numerous times so we have experienced the different specials.

Tried this with my wife end of January. We both got the fried fish. Place has nice atmosphere. We had good service. All was great till the entrée arrived. I was told by server it was haddock. It was the most tasteless haddock I ever had. We have had better fried food of the truck at the other end of... More

Such a treat. We started with the $2 Tapas - the Tuesday night special. They were wonderful. We also enjoyed a local brew (Funky Bow) on draft. We each ordered different entrees and were delighted with the flavorful and delicious food. We also were referred to the wall to locate the local farms that raised the food we were enjoying.... My husband and I were so lucky on Halloween night to be able to drop in at Local 50 for dinner. We just stopped by. The place was pretty busy. We were seated right by the door - which I wouldn't recommend as the inner tables are lovely, the two outer tables, not so much. The food was really good,... More

I recently attended Chef Ross’s private cooking class with my brother-in-law and nephew. It was largely a demonstration of cooking skills and in preparing several dishes, with some crucial hands-on experience and a lot of interaction. In a nutshell, we learned how to: shuck (premium) oysters and make the accompanying sauce; bake a smoked sourdough bread with seaweed; make ricotta... More

This is the first 5 star review I have given a restaurant, and it is very well deserved. My wife and I were in the area earlier this week, and we picked 50 Local for dinner based on the excellent reviews. And, as it turned out, the reviews were spot on as this place is fabulous. It is a bistro... More
