A great rusticated Maine restaurant where you can get a reasonably priced lobsta dinner and the best homemade pie anywhere. The personnel are always great and Wimpy is a neat guy. I love it there. No trip to Bar Harbor is complete without a stop at Ruth & Wimpy's (and I haven't got a dime in this).

Good affordable lobster dinner

This place was recommended by our hotel for good affordable food though we were cautioned to "stick with the seafood". The atmosphere is very casual which was good since we had come from Acadia and were not dressed up at all. We enjoyed our meal on the porch. They were very busy but service was... read more

The deep fried lobster was incredible as was the lobster bisque. My husband loved the clam chowder as well. Wish we would have had time to go back. Worth the drive from Bar Harbor

A great place to eat and very affordable. We enjoyed it so much, we ate here twice! Everything we had was good including their salad bar. Plenty of food is served for great prices. Their desserts can't be missed!

Very indifferent about this place. Appetizers were good, meal was so-so. I understand I ordered steak at a lobster restaurant, but who doesn't grill a steak over a flame? We returned beverages 3 times until we had to ask for bottled water. Dessert came, which is homemade, and blueberry pie. I wasn't blown away. I heard a lot of good... More

Ruth and Wimpy's was recommended by a good friend that grew up in the Hancock Maine area and said it was a must stop and eat while traveling through the area. If your looking for fine dining and a formal setting, go somewhere else. If you want to kick back and have a great lunch with friends in a very... More

The iced water that I had obviously was from an artesian well, as it had a very strong smell of sulfur. So I asked for some lemon slices. That did not help. The water smelled like rotten eggs, almost to the point of being nauseating. Thank goodness I had a few bottles of my own water in the cooler of... More

We were recommended this place from the ranger out Lemoine State Park. I have to say it was an expansive disappointment... My wife had the Lazy Lobster, and I had the stuffed Lobster. The Service: Really bad. We sat for a long time before someone served us. We sat outside and the person serving people was just walking by ignoring... More

Had lunch here with friends. Atmosphere is festive with all the vintage items on the walls. Portions are huge. Shared an order of fried clams and it was great. Lobster roll was very fresh and all tail meat. Service was excellent. Great time.

There are many restaurants that serve lobster in the area. Some are pricey and some cheaper (you get what you pay for). R & W is the best of both worlds. There are 2 options for seating - inside and outside under umbrellas. If it is good weather definitely pick the outside. And they do take reservations so call ahead... More
