A great rusticated Maine restaurant where you can get a reasonably priced lobsta dinner and the best homemade pie anywhere. The personnel are always great and Wimpy is a neat guy. I love it there. No trip to Bar Harbor is complete without a stop at Ruth & Wimpy's (and I haven't got a dime in this).

Be a local

I try never to miss a trip to Ruth and Wimpy's, where all the local folks seem to congregate. As a challenged traveler, you won't have too much trouble getting in. If you have a wheelchair you can sit. If not, beware the orange booths. There are tables and chairs. I was shocked to see the... read more

I am a regular patron of Ruth and Wimpy's during my summer visits to Maine. The seafood is a favorite of mine. The food is well prepared and the portion size usually provides leftovers. Most nights lobster dinners are on the specials list.. The restraunt has a down home vibe with simple furnishing. The wait staff is friendly and knowlega... More

We stayed with a friend in Hancock. Her husband and she loved this restaurant. We took her here for her b-day dinner. Great food, prices weren't too bad for the quality. The waitress was very nice.

Great lobster rolls, stews and salads in Hancock, Maine. Cosy, comfortable and car oriented seafood cafe. Funky and friendly and unpretentious.

Unbeknownst to us we got there at 7:55, and they closed at 8pm, yet they still seated us with open arms. Most of their customers left by 8pm, and although we had the restaurant to ourselves, we never felt rushed. We tried the steamed clams, Seafood Intrigue, and Clam Chowder. All was very good, except for the green beans. We... More

We ordered the fried pickles, Haddock chowder, lobster dinner, and blueberry crisp. The haddock chowder was too watery for our taste; tasted like milk with Haddock. Fried pickles were awful. The lobster dinner was good along with the blueberry crisp. However, the blueberry pie looked amazing. We wished we had tried the pie.

Our family stayed in this area for a week. The first night we got in we were exhausted and hungry from being in airports all day. This place was very good at accomodating our large group of 11. We requested to sit outside, but after we got our drinks and our order placed, we decided it was a little too... More

We enjoyed lunch there in early September. Highly recommend the seafood chowder for its perfect consistency, seafood chunks and flavor. The lobster roll was great and at $11.95 a deal compared to other local places. For the onion rings you get a choice of thick or thin....I recommend the thin! The haddock nuggets were just okay. The steak and cheese... More

We have family in Hancock that we visit every few years. We always eat at Ruth & Whimpy's once or twice per visit. The lobster is large & fresh and possibly the lowest price around (around $15 for a whole lobster with 2 sides). For those who don't like to wrestle with a whole lobster, they have a lazy-man lobster... More

Simple, good food done right with great service. Don't expect an elegant dining experience. Plan to come for the food and lighten your checkbook.
