Out of the ordinary

We had been here last fall and had lobster and haddock. The haddock was a generous portion, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was definitely different! With the huge lobster and pot outside to the funky signs inside & on the ceiling, and all the license plates decorating the place... read more

We didn't have lobster, just wanted light fare. The place looks quirky and comfy, and the prices average for the area. We got a few appetizers before our chowder: the fried pickles and mussels were really good, plenty served and tasty! The best thing we had was a HUGE

Wasn't impressed the moment I walked through the door with my 9 year old and hubby....sign advertising sex on the beach as the featured drink of the evening. Nice, real nice, now my son wants to know what sex is. Thank you Ruth and Whimpy, just how I wanted to spend my dinner! Thankfully they have all these bordering on... More

The food was good and the price was good. I had a lobster roll and sweet potato fries that were both excellent and filling (couldn't finish it). The roll had substantial claw meat. My husband had the thanksgiving ciabatta sandwich and a burger. They were phenomenal. The portions were hefty. I had a Baileys hot cocoa for $3 that was... More

We came to Ruth and Whimpy's on a saturday evening having made no booking. The place was crowded, but it only took about 15 minutes to get a table. Quick service considering the amount of people. We had crab cakes...excellent. Lobster ... Couldn'nt be better. Ceasar salad with shrimps....not the best choice. This is a lobster place. We like the... More

As there are not too many restaurants in the area, we stopped for lunch. Friendly service. Fairly good choice of menus. The lobster rolls were good. Acceptable portions, but rather large for our 4 year old grandaughter. We were in the area later, so decided to visit again as we all wanted to have lobster bisque before going home. This... More

Steamer clams and deep fried clam platter were delicious but the lobster chowder was a huge disappointment. The last time I had it, it was loaded with large chunks of scrumptious fresh lobster,This bowl , however consisted of mostly potatoes with a few bits of absolutely tasteless lobster. Although the broth was very tasty I did not go there for... More

We've been to this area many times over the years and with all the restaurant choices we had passed but never tried Ruth and Wimpys. We decided to try it today. We made a reservation and at 5pm the restaurant was filling up. No problem getting a table. We liked the ambiance if you will. Yes with all the license... More

From the first moment of walking in it looked like a fun place to eat. Family style seating where you feel like you are at home. I had the seafood platter it was unbelievable good everything was fresh. I had never had onion straws I am now a fan for life. One of the things I liked was the ceiling... More
