Description: Gritty McDuff's, Maine's Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted...
Gritty McDuff's, Maine's Original Brew Pub specializes in hand-crafted English style ales and traditional and creative pub fare, in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Both Gritty's fine ales and the pubs have won countless "best of" awards through our twenty-six years of operation. Our standard brews are session beers, Gritty's Pub-Style Pale Ale, McDuff's Best Bitter, Black Fly Stout, allowing one to have multiple beers within a reasonable time period without overwhelming the senses. Our seasonal and varietal ale offerings are more adventurous, some with a higher ABV, and some with higher IBU. We brew a beer for all craft brew palates. For the diner, we offer traditional pub fare alongside not so traditional specialty items. Our pub-style long tables with benches easily accommodate parties of all sizes and add to the camaraderie.

the food was good. The atmosphere was down home. There was an out door area to eat as well as inside. The beer was local and good. The prices were reasonable and the clam chowder and lobster bisque were great.

Food was ok, I was hoping for a better meal. Service was good. We had fish and chips, one of our kids had a hamburger, mac-n-cheese that was dry. The wait was about 15 minutes for a table.

I've eaten at Grittys a total of two times, and each time something has disappointed me. The first time I went to Grittys I ordered the lobster wrap with sweet chili sauce. It sounded amazing and I was so excited to eat it. When it arrived, I was SHOCKED at how little lobster they put in the wrap. The pieces... More

We always stop here when in Freeport. It was a glorious day when we stopped for lunch out on the deck. The fish and chips were hot and the portion generous, the calamari salad was crisp, the clam chowder good. Maybe our opinion is influenced by the beautiful blue skies and abundant outdoor seating, but we always return and are... More

This review is just to focus on one thing. The WINGS!! On Wednesdays, Gritty's offers 50 cent wings with no minimums or limits. We tried all the different types...buffalo, BBQ, Cajun Rub to name a few. To me, the best ones were the Salt and Vinegar wings. Cooked nice and crispy, and the seasoning was awesome. If you like Salt... More

A great place to stop before or after shopping. Gritty's has a nice beer selection and traditional pub fare. The turkey sandwich was big - perfect for our hungry teenage boy. They have a nice deck to sit outside as well.

Looking for food after visiting LLBean. This place was tasty! We didn't have beer, which is probably sacrilegious, but the food was fantastic Nachos were huge and my friend and I had the chicken stacker. Yum.

Just stopped in to Gritty's for a quick bite to eat after shopping. The food was fine, the server was pleasant, but the place was kind of dirty. The table was sticky, the windows were dirty - the place looks like it needs a good wash. Don't think we would return.

a classic; now of course every city has a few brewpubs but this was one of the earlier ones. OK beers, good food. There is better fare and better beer all over portland. worth a trip, however

We visited for a tasting with the foodie tour and came back for more! This is Portland's original brew pub. Downstairs, you can sit inside or out in a pub-like atmosphere and sample the IPA or Summer Ale or others, all of which are excellent. You can also go upstairs for a larger bar and seating area. Regulars have their... More
