Nice place to stop in for lunch on a cold day!

My husband and I stopped in for a quick lunch. The lobster roll he ordered was full of lobster meat and tasted great! I had a chowder and it was good too. Tom, the cook, was very nice and made sure our meal was good-he said if it wasn't, they would make it right, so you can't go wrong here!

It was cold outside and we were hungry. On a side street, just a hundred feet off the main street we saw a sign for chowder. It appeared to have the standard menu for a seafood diner. The cook behind the counter, suggested the chowders. I opted for the lobster chowder and my friend took the clam chowder. The lobster... More

The clam chowder was floury and boring. The onions were crunchy. The lobster roll wasn't good but at least it wasn't bad.

Stopped here after doing retail therapy around 2 pm. Line was out the door and all tables full. Lobster salad was very good. A bit pricey for the size, but good.

My family and I have been traveling to Freeport for years and our favorite spot is the chowder house. Everything we have ever eaten there has been absolutely delicious. This spot truly has the best chowder (clam and corn). We met a really kind man named Tom this past visit who talked to us about the place and graciously served... More

Way overcooked Fried Clams and way undercooked fries for $38... My wife and I both took Pepto a few hours later and never did get back out for dinner. Friendly owner, but won't be going back

Lobster roll - all claw & knuckle meat - the roll so full of meat it was falling out. Delicious. Comes with packets of mayo - use just a little, and ask for some drawn butter to pour over the meat - again, just use a little. Awesome! Also - the seafood chowder was fantastic. Very tasty.

Tried this chowder house for the first time today, the lobster stew was fantastic, the chunks were large and plentiful.

Went here about a year ago during a cool winter day. Quite small inside but the chowder was warm and very good.
