Still a Unexpected Suprise - Even though the bistro was recommended to us.

My family was staying in Freeport ME near the end of June. I find myself still thinking of the pizza and wine that we had at Conundrum so I decided to write a review. My daughter and I were staying at the James Place Inn. Both innkeepers, Tori and Robin, recommended Conundrum since I enjoy wine. It... read more

My husband and I live close to Conundrum, so we've gotten into the habit of dropping by for dinner and sitting at the bar to watch Vinnie mix his wonderful drinks. (He only does it during the week during the summer--he now has another bartender on weekends). The food is always excellent, and we've struck up conversations with a number... More

We have enjoyed stopping in Freeport on our way to Northern Maine and LOVE this little, unassuming restaurant. Creative menu items and fabulous wine selection. Personable, spot-on service and they serve until 10 PM so great for the traveler. However, this seems like the locals go-to place. Also good to note, next door to Casco Bay Inn...another gem for a... We had to stop going here. After the last three visits got progressively worse, ending with us walking out after 60 minutes with no food, we will not be going back. The service used to at least be good when the kitchen was backed up, then it got to the point where the service was so poor that we sat... More

I went here before shopping in Freeport the other night and the meal was fantastic. My wife and I each had a glass of wine(very exensive selection as well as bottled and draft beer and cocktails). We started with the goat cheese plate and charcuterie which were both very good. My wife had the gazpacho which was delicious. I had... More

Eclectic menu. Great wine and beer selection. Friendly helpful service, Comfortable atmosphere. We have been here about four times. Each visit was enjoyable and the food is very good. Some of the food pairings are not traditional but they work. The menu changes on a regular basis so go with your instincts.

Really pleasant place. Friendly service and excellent food. We really appreciated the advice on how much food to order.

I have dined here numerous times and it never disappoints. It is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is delicious, the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is comfortable. The meal started with avocado & brie on a grilled baguette. The bread was perfect, just like we have in New Orleans. It did not fall apart when you took... More

I love Conundrum.. it is just around the corner from where I live and I go often. Vinny, the owner, is one of the nicest people around and always makes sure each visit to his establishment is the best. Apparently the martinis are superb (I don't drink) and the wine list the most extensive in the area.. the food is... More

Vinny knows wine & food and people like him make my traveling life so much better. I've eaten mussels all over Europe and these are maybe the best I've ever had. Wine list is incredible & coming from California & a big wine collector, I didn't miss a beat. If you love food, wine & a gracious host who knows... More
