Another brilliant meal at Orwells. The food is sublime and the real standout is the service which is understated yet attentive. Red Leicester bread was to die for, as was the amuse bouche of a veloute with curried popcorn! The wine list is really good. Tried a biodynamic Pinot Noir from Alsace which was outstanding. I've eating in many high... More

It all started with being placed on the Chefs table with a fantastic view of the kitchen. Watching the care with which the food was prepared, it was then unsurprising that the food was really exceptionally good. It was well seasoned, different without being weird and very well cooked. The only smallest criticism was that at times we had to... More

First time here and hope to go back on our next visit to Oxfordshire. Lovely location, charming interior, friendly staff and the most wonderful food. Diverse menu suited this pescatarian. Without prior warning offered gluten free bread to my husband. Wine list very good. Was sad to leave!

We had a fantastic meal here on a recent Saturday night . Service was excellent too. It is certainly a special occasion place as it is expensive. That said I thought the price to be in line with the quality of food and service. What was hugely disappointing was the fact that we had been given a table in the... More

Let's start with the positives: the food at Orwells is good. Not exceptional but good. However, the service is intrusive, slightly rude and inefficient (it hours to get our food, with gaps of over 45 minutes between courses). Actually the feel of the whole place is ostentatious. I've been to several great restaurants, including many award winning ones where the... More

I have just enjoyed a fantastic lunchtime dining experience at Orwells which completely exceeded my expectations. Even though we chose the set lunch menu- there was no compromise in the quality of produce and the warmth of service. Our lovely French waiter had previously worked at Le Manoir- and his appreciation and knowledgeable of the locally sourced ingredients was evident.... More

We visited Orwells on a busy Friday evening and as usual the staff were welcoming. The pre dinner drinks at the bar were a perfect start to our evening. The starters and main courses were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Then came dessert! Just yummy. Thanks guys for a lovely evening with the best food and wine in the area... More

the kitchen here has just raised their game a few notches. The rabbit starter is just amazing perfectly cooked and moist balance of flavours perfect, the duck main course just melted in the mouth. This is far better than many Michelin star places that we have visited and some of the ratings just do not do it any justice. Sweetbreads... More

Great location and setting, nice garden, good food, even the freshly baked bread was delicious. Food just needs a little more tweaking then it would be excellent. Agree with previous table comment, just needs linen table cloth to match linen napkins. Good, attentive service, but not at all intrusive. Would certainly recommend.

Yet again a great meal, always fantastic thought put into every dish on presentation, homegrown, taste and surprise elements. Can't count the amount of times visited, hard to find the same the level of high standards in any other restaurants.
