Sadly, Helen's has gone downhill over the last few years. Once known for their delicious home-style cooking, the meals lately have been overcooked (my rib-eye was charred on both sides and tasteless). Advertised items were not available (prime rib offered on menu board at entrance - gone at 5:30?). One bright light in this miasma of gloom were the pies.... More

Stopped at the Vistor Center and the friendly and helpfull volunteer highly recommended "Helens " and she was bang on. The display case of homemade pies is the first thing you pass on the way to your table or booth. Service was fast and friendly.Food is homemade and delicious.Started with Lobster stew, buttery and loaded with chunks of lobster.Had liver and... More

Our first time here. The decor missed the mark by having high school cafeteria-like tables and chairs mixed with comfortable booths. I ordered a deluxe burger which had tomato and lettuce (not really deluxe in my opinion, that should be standard) but my burger was tasteless, I had to order salt and pepper just to have some sort of flavor.... Friendly employees who greet you, comfortable and clean environment and wonderful food! My husband and I had the Pot Roast dinner and oh my! It was delicious! Generous portions and home cooked taste! Haven't had Pot Roast like that in a long time! And blueberry pie for dessert! Lots of choices on the menu too!

The fried clams were really good. They were not the frozen stuff from the store. They served fresh bread and it tasted really good. The salad with chicken tasted great. The scallops were okay. The best part was the dessert. We all ordered banana split pie. It was delious! The service was great!

We needed a place to please all tastes in our two families. Plenty of tables open for our party size and a varied menu. A good value and all food was tasty, especially the onion rings.

Ordered the Grilled Cheese with Bacon and the cheese was one slice of processed Swiss Cheese. When I asked the waitress afterwards what kind of cheese they use for grilled cheese, I was told American. When I asked how much bacon was going to be on the sandwich I was told two slices, so I ordered more bacon. Two dollars... More

We've been hearing about Helen's for years, it's a local landmark with a good reputation, so I hate to give a lukewarm review. But the fabled chowder -- I had scallop -- was tasteless, chalky in consistency, and the sea scallops, unbelievably, were tough. A homemade pie -- coconut creme I think -- was over-sweet & tasted like it was... More

We have eaten at Helen's several times before. For the life of me I can't understand why we don't go there more often. The food is always very good, the portions large...OK, enormous...and the price is very reasonable. It was Friday and my wife had the every Friday special which was a full blown roast turkey dinner. The plate was... More
