i have eaten at Helen's in Ellsworth many, many times and have never had a bad meal. My favorites include the fresh haddock sandwich, their signature onion rings and of course the famous home made desserts! Definately stop and give it a try!

I have stopped at Helen's in Machias and am usually satisfied with both the food and the service.I stopped here for the chocolate cream pie as I remembered it being delicious at the "other" Helen's. It was good but wasn't as chocolatey as I remembered it being...in fact it was rather bland. I was disappointed that it wasn't as good... More

My family and I went to Helens for dinner, we had not been there for a while and thought that we would drive 45 min to eat there, what a POOR choice that was! I ordered the combo seafood plate scallops and Haddock for 17.99 plus 1.00 because of the price of scallops being "higher" then normal. The plate came... More

The service was good, but we were sorry we wasted our time and money on our last day of our visit Downeast. My lazy lobster was dreadful and my baked potato undercooked. I was too nice and didn't complain, even though I should have.

First review I've ever written. We are relatively new to the area and live a short distance from Hellen's. We've heard great reviews about the pie and the place looks cute so we were looking forward to stoping in. We've been blessed with the numerous great restaurants in the area that provide fresh farm to table dishes so maybe we've... More

Good chowder on New Years Eve with great company. Nice to see Cally hostessing too! She always makes it a fun experience. The fireplace gives it such a cozy atmosphere.

During the past 8 years we visited helens occasionally but stopped 2 year ago . The location , building and dining room design offer little attraction . The menu should offer basic american fare with some daily specials but doesn't . in short there is just no reason to go to this place.

Large selection on menu, big light room with antique type artifacts on walls, friendly service. Seafood a specialty of course but luscious desserts and any other type of food. Daily specials. First time I have been offered beets as veg of the day..good!

We enjoyed the hot and tasty fish. The service was friendly and quick. Great family style restaurant. The prices were pretty good too.
