While vacationing in Maine we had two meals at Helens. Our first experience was lunch and we stopped simply because it was nearby and looked interesting. Both of us had salads which were not bad tasting but not very imaginative......plain old head lettuce with so so dressings. But the coffee and service was good so we returned for an evening... More

The food is good with large portions. Seems like a lot of locals eat here. Coconut pie is outstanding!

I wasn't going to leave Maine without a lobster and time was running out. Liked the looks of Helen's so took a chance. Ordered a cup of fish chowder and the lobster roll, topped it off with the graham cracker pie. Everything was wonderful. Sherry was our server and she was very friendly and helpful. My husband had the pot... More

we ate here twice and both times the food was great, it isn't cheap but worth the great fresh lobster!

We had a really good server, #8. Can't remember her name. She made sure our glasses were refilled and came to check back often. Food was just average. Nothing to write home about. Place was busy on a Sunday night. We had scallops and lasagna. Restaurant was clean. We would go back if all we wanted was an average meal... More

Though the décor is trying to relive days of old - it just comes across as very dated and dingy. The whole interior needs serious revamping. We had to ask the waitress to clean off the dirty plates, etc. that were on the table next to us for a long time. The lobster was okay, however the clam strips were... More

Ate here twice during our stay. Food was very good and the pies were awesome. Service was very fast and accommodating. It's close to the Ramada and Hampton Inn too.

Spent a long weekend in the Ellsworth/Bar Harbor, ME area. While touring the Ellsworth area, several different stores and shops recommended Helen's for the pie. This was a reasonable answer as I ask them "Where could I find the best blueberry pie in this area? My friend and I went in on the last day of our vacation around 1:30.... More

We stopped at Helen's on our way home from Mount Desert Island and found the service to be excellent and the seafood superb! We had the fried scallops and a seafood combo (scallops and clams) and everything was delicious. Sadly, no room for their award winning desserts! We will definitely stop there again when we are in the area.
