Love going to breakfast with friends here....locally owned and always a good meal! My favorite is the campfire pancakes and the cheesesteak omelet with home made toast! YUM! They also offer lunch and the prices are great!

Given previous reviews, or family stopped here specifically for the haddock sandwich. I had their pan sauteed haddock sandwich and I can't say it was any better than a fast food take out restaurant. The fish chowder was ok as well. Nothing special.

Thanks for the feedback. We have changed they way we prepare our grilled haddock. I think the way we do it now is much better and more consistent. Hope you will try again sometime. We at Sylvia's want you to leave pleased with your experience and we encourage our customers to tell us when we miss the mark. We will... More

Took the grandchildren to Sylvia's for a late breakfast and it was a great experience. Lots of food, well cooked, regular diner fare, look forward to also trying their famous haddock sandwich sometime. Great quick service, (grandson asked about the challenge breakfast and our waitress took the time to explain to him what it was all about.....he cant wait till... More

Driving into Ellsworth from the Bangor airport, we had 2 carloads of hungry family members that had left other cities for flights in the wee hours of the morning to gather in Maine for a family reunion. For all of us, it had been too long since we had spent a lot of time in Ellsworth so we took a... More

On our way to Portland we stopped here for breakfast. These people know what they're doing and don't waste time. The eggs were cooked to perfection. They have a cook who knows how to cook. If you want to go to a place where they know the difference between sunny side up, over easy and medium eggs, this is the... More

My wife and I both had a regular breakfast of eggs, bacon, home fries and toast. We found the home fries to be quite overcooked. This place is frequented by regulars who know each other and the staff. The staff were very friendly, however, the food service was quite slow. The meal was reasonably priced.

I am guessing Sylvia's Café has to be the closest that I have found in the area to being a Diner. No it isn't in a train car. Hey I am from away, so I know what I am talking about, grew up in Diners. We have stopped here several times for breakfast and lunch and now seems to be... More

we stopped at Sylvia's for a quick lunch. We prefer to try local dining places in instead of the usual chain restaurants. Sylvia's is tucked into a strip mall on Rt. 1. Inside, the atmosphere is one of a casual dining place form the 1950's. The age of the building, the selections on the menu, and the prices all lean... More
