This place has changed hands a lot and so the service and quality has suffered. Of late, however, they seem to be pretty well under control. Good coffee and breakfasts but usually crowded out the door. That's a good sign that the locals like it.

I was pleased to find Riverside Cafe open on my trip to Ellsworth this summer. I was last in Ellsworth 7 years ago. I found Riverside Cafe then. I was hoping it was still there. Hooray! It is. It still offered the same great service, super friendly staff and generous portions of good food that satisfied my big guy hunger.... More

This cafe is large in size and can accommodate a large number of people. We stopped in for a quick bite on the way to Bar Harbor. The tuna and chicken salad sandwiches were better than anticipated. The service was very friendly and speedy. The chocolate chip cookie we ordered was very good and fresh. This place is casual. Prices... More

Riverside Cafe is a great locals dining venue. My wife and I live in Trenton, Maine and work in Bar Harbor. We have dined at Riverside Cafe numerous times when when we are in Ellsworth. Portions are first-rate and generous. The staff is local and friendly. Checkout their cool artwork. Highly recommend.

Interesting menu with something for everyone. Consistently good coffee and food, attentive service, but get there early because they don't take reservations and it gets packed!

We were here for breakfast with our kids 7 & 10. Riverside has a big menu and always wonderful specials. Something for everyone, great coffees, juices, quiche and traditional eggs and breakfast meats. My only complaint is that our server didn't refill coffee. After being empty for 10 minutes I had to get his attention for a refill.

We have been coming to Riverside for about 6 years. The service has steadily gone down. In fact, we have started eating at the other breakfast places, but keep thinking that we will give Riverside one more try. We tried to eat at Riverside on Sunday the 27th of July. We waited in line behind a large group. The hostess/waitresses... More

I would eat breakfast at the Riverside everyday if I could. Unfortunately, that is not always possible, since I am busy flying Biplanes for Acadia Air Tours when the weather is good. But if it is raining you can bet I will be there for breakfast! No better place for excellent food and great value.

I made a wrong turn and ended up in this little downtown area, but it looked so quaint we decided to stop and walk around. Very cool shops in the neighborhood. We were getting hungry, so we stopped in at the Riverside Cafe for breakfast. They had a large, inspired selection for breakfast....so much so that I wished we had... More

My caretaker and I had breakfast there this morning, I took him there last year and as a breakfast aficionado he wanted to take me this year. Lots of choices from blueberry stuffed french toast (more blueberries than you can imagine) to a selection of daily quiches, hashes, Eggs Benedict, and of course all the normal fare. Service can be... More
