Well, the Pickled Herring left us forever, but the good news is that it's been replaced by a new restaurant, the Landmark 1887. The food will be pizzas, burgers, not the gourmet fare of the Pickled Herring. They plan music on the weekends. Since I live about 100 yards as the crow flies from the restaurant I'll be able to... I take exception to the review behind mine, from squeeze something. I'm from away part of the time and not from away the other part. Don't appreciate the generalization made about people from "the city."For one, this is a generalization. Two, this is not an appropriate forum for this, if there is one.

It's closed! Was good, but now it's gone. Closed. No one home. What else can I say. Why isn't this enough for the review to go through?

I'm very sad that the restaurant closed. I asked at the IGA and they said it's closed for good. It was a great addition to Eastport despite the people from away who had a few criticisms because it wasn't like the city. They come up for the rural atmosphere and then make snarky remarks. I guess that's how they do... More

The restaurant will not open this season. Drove by the other day and the windows are covered over with a large closed sign on the door.

This restaurant was one of the first to start a dining revolutions in Eastport Maine. A great little city at the eastern most point in the US. Should really be in Atlantic time and they actually celebrate New Years twice, once for Canada at 11 EST and the again at midnight. Good food, I especially like the lobster pizza, great... More

The food was carefully prepared and tasted mouth watering. Good beer on tap. I arrived a bit before my reservation and was seated in the bar until the chef was ready for me. It felt like I was a celebrity! That was my favorite part of the dining experience: the way wait staff and chef fussed over me. That doesn't... More

My husband are I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary at the Pickled Herring this past August. Everything was wonderful. We were a little reluctant at first because of some of the reviews. However our dining experience was perfect. Our waitress (Tammy) was wonderful. She was quick ,friendly and right there when we needed her. The quality of the food was... More

This restaurant is a GEM! You would expect this quality to be in Portland, Boston or New York but it is in the eastern most city in the United States, Eastport, Maine. We have had the pleasure of eating there many times and I can honestly say that every time was excellent. You should try the Lobster Alfredo and the... More
