We are dinner here twice. Amazing food. The scallops were delicious. The only point to make - we ordered a bottle of Prosecco and the waitress had no idea how to open it. No concerns, we gave her a lesson. Desserts are delicious as well

Outstanding restaurant and bar. Traci was so attentive and excellent at allowing us to pace our way through the evening. The chowder was superb, the cold pea soup intricate and appealing. The house made chicken liver pate was just too good to be true with house made crackers, chutney and marinated onion. SO YUMMY! We had beautiful fish for our... More

We ate at the inn one evening during a recent stay at the inn. The setting is lovely and the restaurant is one of the few places for a nice dinner in the area. The shrimp cocktail with lobster mousse and the seafood stew were both excellent. Arrive early for a cocktail or glass of wine out on the lovely... More

We found the Whales Rib to be the fanciest eats on the island. This restaurant seems to attract a lot of older people. We enjoyed the environment of the restaurant. The older group next to us was very snobby to our shared waitress who in our opinion was very nice and patient, therefore we treated her as such.

Food was terrific. Need reservations. I think it is the only restaurant in the town of Deer Isle and is associated with an inn. Limited hours. Worth the call and the drive. we came from Stonington. Reasonably priced for the food. I had the halibut which was excellent. My wife had the seafood stew which included an entire lobster.

We ate at the Whale's Rib Tavern for the first time this evening: potato leek soup followed by a rack of lamb for me; malbec, local organic mixed greens and pasta with halibut, shrimp and a tasty sauce for Sandy. The food was very well prepared and presented. Our waitress Paige, was attentive, efficient and personable.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely meal recently while staying at the inn. Smallish cozy dining room with local artists about. Food was very good, although menu a bit limited. Evening staff was very friendly and attentive.

Top quality food. Especially enjoyed the smokey fish chowder, steamers, and scallops. The salads were fresh, crispy, and delicious. The atmosphere is perfect for the setting: exposed, original barn wood with views of the water and grounds. And, if you finish dinner early enough, repair to the bar (which closes around 9 pm) for an after dinner drink. The tequila... More
