The best place for happy hour from 3 to 6. Meet old and new friends. People are very sociable, easy to talk with even strangers. It's a gathering place for like minded people.

Decided to try the Sunday Brunch, and was able to get a table upstairs by the fireplace on this fairly cool day. Ordered the special of the day, which was an interesting take on Eggs Benedict - with a homemade biscuit instead of the usual English Muffin, with country gravy and bacon. Served with sweet potato home-fries. The taste was... More

Great happy hour! Pricey but you get what you pay for. My husband and I use this spot as our "special occasion" spot. Great place to eat if you are from out of town!

Darmariscotta River Grill, located right on Main Street in downtown Darmariscotta was an excellent selection for dinner on a Monday evening in May. We had originally tried to go to another restaurant down the street from the Grill but discovered it was closed on Mondays in May. So, while the River Grill was not our first choice we were very... I stopped in for lunch based on the recommendation by an employee at the local gas station. I ordered a latte and a Grill Burger. The burger comes with pepper jack cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato. Also comes with a side, I got the Waldorf salad. Everything was fresh and tasty. Our waitress did a great job, attentive but not... More

This was recommended to us by a local. So glad we took the chance. The ambience is very nice on the first floor and I kind of wish we had eaten down there. We went upstairs and were admiring the art on the walls. The upstairs is big and airy, however, we did find it a bit noisy. One of... More

The menu is inventive, the food is well prepared and the ambiance, with interesting original artwork adorning the walls, is warm and comfortable. What I object to is when lobster cakes are ordered off the appetizer menu and, unbeknownst to me, the waitress elevates the order to entree status by adding one cake and rice/vegetables and adds $12 to the... Visiting family on the lake and were told there's only one place for dinner -- glad we didn't argue -- dinner was great. Quiet, service (Natalie M.) just the best and the check didn't kidnap my wallet. Onion soup top-notch and shrimp plates excellent, too. Had a tub of mussels and still can taste them.

After being turned away by another local restaurant because I was a single which they apparently do not serve, I was delighted to discover a nearby restaurant that thankfully DO seat singles. Not only was the service delightful but the meal was absolutely delicious and what could have been a crappy evening turned into a great one thanks to this... More

Damariscotta River Grill was recommended by my innkeeper in Newcastle, and we were glad we had dinner there. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and informal, and the price was in keeping with the quality of food and service. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient. You can't ask for better.
