I have eaten at this restaurant many times over the years.I love that they have an outside covered area that provides a wonderfull view of Castine harbor. It is always an adventure because it can be very great or bad.The sevice is always slow even if the place is empty. The food average at best but... read more

I've had meals at Dennett's annually for almost 30 years and this year was, by far, the most disappointing. The service is awful - rude and non-attentive waitstaff. You would think by now they would know that over 200 students arrive in Castine, Maine on the same date each year and staff the restaurant accordingly. The wait is forever and... More

We went at 5:00 on a Sunday and it was very crowded. Not enough servers for the crowd although ours was pretty good once we saw her; no clams and out of something else too at 5:00. The food was very slow coming out of the kitchen. The beer list was pretty goo and the wine list not bad, with... More

We have been going to Castine in June for the past 10 yrs. and during our stay we eat twice at Dennetts. (Our other meals for the week are included in our School fee) There was a write up in a travel magazine 3 - 5 years ago saying the best Lobster roll was to be found in Castine at... More

We ate lunch here before taking a ride with Guildive Cruises. Wouldn't recommend the fish n chips but the salmon was really good. The menu over all is a little pricey. A nice meal with a great view, our waitress was very sweet and it was fun to sit out under the awning.

We checked out this local bar, in the tiny town of Castine. We sat at the bar in front of a statue of a fish balanced vertically and under a stuffed water buffalo head. The beer selection is fairly extensive and the oatmeal stout was delicious. We'll come back and sit outside on the water, in the warmer weather. A... More

We were in Castine on vacation. We ate at the one "great" place and needed a meal the second night. This restaurant was about all that was open. We had oysters from various places in the area...........delicious!!!

Great location for a drink, often with good music.....eat your meal before or after elsewhere, low quality, expansive, unprofesionally served! The ownership should really cunsult some professional to make this great spot a good restaurant, other than a OK bar

Have been visiting a client in Castine for years. It puzzles me how this restaurant consistently remains average. It features a wonderful location with a nice view and the ambience is actually pretty good - for the type of restaurant it is: relaxed casual. However, you may find the food is similar to Applebees fare and the service is slow.... More

I had been to Dennett's Wharf 6 or 7 years ago. I was delighted to find that it was just the same. The servers are friendly. The view is gorgeous, and while the menu isn't extensive, what is served is good quality and flavorful. My husband and I both started out with a cup of New England clam chowder. Creamy... More
