Make a point to go when in Kennebunkport

The wait staff here make this bright, cheery place a must. BYOB, and a real taste of Maine. Yummy fried clams, excellent lobster stew, good haddock. Very basic, but good. Desserts are wonderful.

My husband came here as a child and his fond memories were enhanced when we came back decades later! This place has Delicious comfort food with Downeast atmosphere. They do seafood right, but non-seafood fans are satisfied too. My Burger was tasty with good flavor and a yummy bun. My husband's Fishermans platter was fully loaded. My daughter had a... More

My wife and I were in the area looking for a place to eat and came upon the captain's. It is a small place, easy parking in the area. The food was good the fried clams and fish were not greasy. The wait staff was beyond friendly. Also it is BYOB.

It's not fancy...either the décor or the menu...but it's good. The lobster offerings are excellent whether you order lobster stew, a lobster roll or a whole lobster. Side dishes are homemade as are the rolls and desserts...can't beat the blueberry pie! The wait staff is friendly and efficient. There are a lot of restaurants in Kennebunkport and Cape Porpoise but... More

Foot long lobster roll on a toasted bun with fixins on the side - truly memorable. Others in our party had other choices that were all praise worthy as well. The service is friendly and efficient and the libations are BYOB.

Stopped here on a busy Sunday morning, the recommended nearby places were packed ! And thank goodness ! We stumbled upon the best breakfast ever ! Amazing ..delicious blueberry pancakes and huge servings of everything. Family run business and everyone was very friendly.

The broiled swordfish was thin, overcooked and tough. The Haddock special was lukewarm and of limited flavor. Both overpriced.

The lobster for our Canadian visitors was perfect! Jenny the wait staff was amazing - right on top of her game! But, the "loud, rude" guest at the next table played a part in our experience, sadly. I don't think there was anything The Captain's staff could do - I guess???? The "bring your own beverage" is a wonderful part... More

Terrific seafood in this casual and friendly setting. The clam chowder was delicious, and not gooey and overly thick like many places. We had the baked haddock and loved it-- sides were generous and delicious! Wonderful home made rolls, and delicious blueberry pie, too. The service was ultra- friendly-- we'll be back!

The baked haddock is simply amazing ! Make sure you try the homemade desserts and don't forget the BYOB formula.
