Pastries looked good, smelled great and tasted wonderful! Our server was most helpful and friendly. Answered questions and welcomed those crazy questions.

We stopped at this place for breakfast accidently when coming back from the lighthouse (I believe it's the same for most people); later on I saw the numerous reviews. The donuts were so good that we got some for the trip and eventually forgot about them. So the next day I remembered about them, got the bag expecting to find... More

Great donuts, pastries, cookies, and cakes made on the spot and fresh daily. This is a real bakery staffed in the front with local kids. With all of the faux donuts and sweets available these days, The Cookie Jar stays true to their roots to what a traditional bakery should be all about. Friendly service. Highly recommended.

We stopped here after leaving Portland Head Light. It was only a few minutes away. The pastries here were all baked that day, lots of choices and samples to help you decide. My wife has a weakness for bakeries and she over loaded for the rest of our trip. She froze the pastries in our campers freezer and 3 weeks... More

I've been visiting this bakery for over thirty years. There's only one word that describes the assortment, quality, taste, freshness, and service; superb! Though they make many types of donuts and pastries, my favorite is the raspberry filled cake donut. They use a delicious raspberry jelly and the cake donut is firm yet supple. Yummy! I invite you to explore... More

Fantastic cakes, cookies, and pastries! We bought chocolate cupcakes, cream horns, orange twists, and raspberry-filled cookies this time. Had a white cake earlier this year -- to die for! Definitely the best bakery in this area.

I haven't tried anything but the doughnuts and doughnut holes but I never want to! When I think of the best doughnuts in the Portland area I think of The Cookie Jar.

We stopped here on our honeymoon while traveling along the Maine coast. The store is adorable and the cream horns are to die for! I used to work in a bakery so I'm used to the protocol. The young girls behind the counter were less than enthusiastic and gave us the impression that we were bothering them or it was... More

This is a true bakery- real old fashioned methods and ingredients! Biggest donut holes I have ever seen! Had a blueberry best claw and a glazed cinnamon roll- just the right mix of dough/flavoring/icing. Lots of coffee options- all self serve. Daily bread varieties looked delicious and there were lots of Locals in the shop!
