As with all dining establishments, some menu selections are decidedly better than others. If you eat at Cappy's Chowder House, their clam chowder served up in a freshly baked bread bowl is delicious and is a hearty, inexpensive meal option. A steaming bowl of clam chowder after a brisk sail on Schooner Olad was a perfect choice on a recent... More

The chowder was excellent, lots of clam in it. However, the service was slow and the servers seemed disinterested.

I try to avoid restaurants that seem too touristy. They are generally overpriced, overhyped and undertasty. This is an exception. The tourist kitsch is at full blast, ironically self-referential and all. The food, however is surprisingly fresh and flavorful. We would return in a heartbeat.

Our first trip to Camden and we chose Cappy's based on innkeepers recommendation. It’s in the middle of downtown and dining room does look out on harbor; not such an attraction for dinner with sunset at 6. The exterior (with its gilt lettered sign and colorful striped awning) and the reception area (with its nautical decoration) have more character than... More

We were in a little late so our waitperson focused a lot of attention on us. The food was very good including deserts.

Ordered the seafood chowder with a mini lobster roll. We are not from east coast so found out the lobster roll is not our thing. I can't say if it was good or bad because we don't know. We do know great clam/seafood chowder. We felt the seafood chowder was thin and lacking in flavor, however it was full of... More

Every time we've visited Camden - 5-6 times over the past 20 years - we eat at Cappy's at least once. It has always been reliable - good food, service, and atmosphere. This time we ate in the pub once and the new dining area overlooking the harbor. We were not disappointed. On both occasions - once for lunch and... More

My wife and I had a tremendously great lunch here. My wife had the homemade macaroni and cheese with lobster (AMAZING) and the server said it was her favourite. I had the lobster tacos. I was going to get the fish tacos for $ 13.99 but the server convinced me to go $ 3 more for the lobster. They were... More

The rest of the town closes down early. Cappy's open until 11PM (Oct 2014). Great fish 'n chips, clam chowder.

Sat at the bar and met a lot of folks from away, far away! Very friendly staff and clientele. Excellent lobster roll with their unique slaw & pickle.
