Delighted and surprised

This is a superb restaurant - food, ambience, value, and service. In the past, they only had a full dinner with no choice. Now it's a full menu with innovative dishes prepared extremely well. One of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time.

My wife and I ate at the Hartstone Inn Hideaway because of the high ratings it had received on a number of review sites. The setting was quite hoity-toity, with diminished lighting, flowery wallpaper, large vases with fresh flowers, and a fireplace. The service was reasonably attentive. For appetizers, we enjoyed the delicious, though sparse servings of Meyer Lemon Risotto... More

We have lived here for over two years and this was our first, but not last, visit to the Hartstone Inn in Camden, Maine. We were warmly greeted on entering the restaurant, led to a charming table in a small room that may have been a sun porch at one time. Service was impeccable, servers were friendly and knowledgeable about... More

We had the five course tasting menu, and found it delightful. In addition to the great food, there were lots of good choices for wine accompaniments to the various courses. The chef really knows his stuff, and staff are very attentive to diners needs. I would especially recommend the soufflé dessert, whatever it might be on the day of your... More

This was the meal I was most excited about on our honeymoon. Their menus online looked savory and the chef seemed to be a pretty big deal. It did not disappoint! The seating area is intimate and close. You'll hear other people's conversations, but everyone was friendly. We were bantering with other tables and getting recommendations from groups that were... Stayed here 2 nights and dined here the last night. Wish we had eaten here the first night so we could have returned the next night, it was that good. Set aside the cramped quarters and focus on the food--it was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Every course was delectable, made with the freshest of ingredients and perfectly seasoned. We... More

Restaurant Review: My boyfriend and I spent July 4th weekend in Camden Maine and had a wonderful dinner! We made reservations (which I would highly recommend as the restaurant is very small). We ordered a bottle of wine, I had the filet and he had a seafood dinner and it was one of the best meals our entire time in... More

It's a shame the servers and hostess at the Hartstone inn don't seem to understand they are there for the customers rather than themselves. My husband and I went to the Hartstone Inn after reading stellar reviews online, during a romantic getaway from the kids. Unfortunately, we stood without acknowledgment waiting to be seated at least 7 full minutes, along... More

Fantastic meal in intimate surrounding, small dining rooms and superb food make reservations mandatory. Exemplary service. Every course surprised my tastebuds with interesting combinations(lobster cakes with asparagus slaw, macadamia crusted cod with blood orange buerre blanc, and a fantastic blueberry creme brûlée). The meal could not have been any better. Prix Fixe is a good option, excellent wine list at reasonable... More

Camden has become a mecca for foodies and the Hartstone stands out. We opted for the a la carte menu and enjoyed varying creative dishes, some very good wines, and attentive service in a cozy elegant room.
