I'm a retired New Jerey Superior Court judge, spending my time searching for fine food and pleasurable experiences. Michael Salmon and Mary Jo made my first visit to Maine one of the best of both, with their warm hospitality and superb cuisine. From stuffed ravioli, to tender lobster, to the legendary desert souffle, the dinner at their Inn tops my... More

What a delightful treat! Four of us visited the Hartstone Inn in August for my birthday dinner. I had the chef's prix fixe tasting menu and the others ate a la carte. The food was superb, along with the very attentive service, which included a few courtesies related to the birthday, of which they were aware. Even the chef came... More

Nice ambiance...food was very good. There are several dining room areas and we had a nice quiet table not close to other diners.

I don't know why this restaurant is rated so highly. Dull and uninteresting food prepared as if it were the 1960's. Lots of thick sauces.

The Hartstone is very small and elegant. The food was fresh and well prepared. The staff very professional and responsive. I read the Trip Advisor reviews which raved about The Hartstone so I had high expectations and they were more than satisfied. Thank you Trip Advisor for leading me down the right path yet again.

My wife and I really enjoyed the Inn - and the free upgrade for my 70th birthday! The highlight of the stay was the evening dinner - awesome! This ranks up there with one of the best prepared meals we have ever had. And we have eaten in many a great restaurant in Charleston SC, Atlanta GA, etc. Also, Michael... More

We had dinner at the Hartstone Inn last week. Each course was a delight. Starting with a modestly priced wine list with excellent values. My wife had a macadamia crusted fish which was simply prepared and perfectly cooked. My lobster ravioli was as good as I have had. The service was professional and attentive without being intrusive. We enjoyed our... More

Back at the Hartstone Inn, our home for the night in their "Tally Ho"room, we couldn't pass-up the afternoon $5 cocktails that came with a canapé. Their signature key lime martini is one of the best cocktails I've tried and canapé of polenta cake topped with Maine lobster and tapenade was enough to keep me reordering the cocktail. A vicious...
